How much work do you want to do to the tranny??? I have seen an 806 gas pull 6000#, but he didn't have a full set of gears. He also didnt' have aluminum wheels, or roll cage, or tube frame. I think it will be interesting to see what others respond about how light they got, and how.

We can make 5500lb with the 400 series and two turbos without much of a problem. I would think that someone could make 5000lb with no cage and smaller wheels and one turbo. I know of at least 300 more lbs that I could get rid of. It just starts to cost a lot after you get to this point. The basic lightened rear end, lightened bullgears, gun drilled axles and a stock trans should land you somewhere around 6000lbs empty weight. From there it starts to cost alot more in time as well as expense.
