my dad my brother and i are currently goin to build our first "real" puller .. goin with a 806 and the 361.. motor has about 10,000 hrs on it never been touched with a m&m turbo.. any help with the simple modifications i could do to this tractor to make it hopefully competitive for the upcoming yr.. and help opinions or advise would be appreciated.. thanks..

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 12:05PM
what are you're rules and what classes do you pull in?

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 12:32PM
mstpa regulations.. or midmopullers im not sure of what sanction we will try to run with.. mstpa for 9000 profield are stock block up to 640 ci.. a or p pump water injection hitch height is 20 in..or maybe hot farm.. not sure were i would belong with a limited income so to speak.. this is like ground zero .. gotta start sumwhere..

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 01:17PM
i was told my 466 would go in my 806 .. is this true? just lookin to be cost effective the tractor doesnt have to look pretty just run good.. i understand theirs always bugs to work out.. guessin ten g s isnt gonna get me much huh?

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 12:21AM
yup, it will bolt right in

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 12:28AM
Pump, injectors and a better turbo would help a lot.

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 01:21AM
Bolt on a 450 Roosamaster injection pump, get some .093 lines & injectors to match the pump, take off the M&W turbo setup, find a turbo setup off a 1256, and bolt a 3LM-466 to the 1256's turbo manifold. Put in a double disc clutch & flywheel, then go have fun!

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 02:18AM
now will 3000 rpm b enough to run that big 3lm 466 turbo? i contemplated a 3lm-353..

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 02:43AM
It'll spin it at 3000 RPM's.

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 12:41PM
If your concerned about how it will run take a look at how the "RED DELIGHT" tractor that runs the 5700 profield class with MMTTPA runs. I run a 361 motor with a 3LM466 turbo and I believe I could run a bigger one. I run a 450 Rooser pump, intercooler, with water injection. I would recommend if your going to run a heavier class to go to a 407 but you will for sure need at least a 2 disc and if you have room I would go 3 disc 14" clutch.

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 02:18PM
Thats what i want a two disk.
my dad bought a regular ole six button clucth thinks it will work for now. I dont think it will hold it. Is 1500 reasonable for a two disk?.. Not sure how far we will get this yr.. but trial and error will work two.. Hahaha

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 05:05PM
we have a 407 in our 1206 and we run a solid foramic disk with heavy clutch springs and are able to run high 3rd with no slipping and it is a lot cheaper than a double if you are looking to save money

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 11:45PM
The 14" clutch may?????? hold but I'm having trouble holding my 12" double disc if I try to run my tall gear which is like a 24/1 gear. I don't khow how that compares to what Hi 3rd is for you all, I know the 14" clutch will hold alot better, just can't get a 14" in my 560 housing. Any ideals on how to make it hold better would be great. Will be developing more Hp next season so I'm going to need to run this gear so I'm looking for options to fix the problem. Need to use present setup if prossible which is a 2 disc 12" steel setup,(maxed out on spring pressure according to my clutch man), also running all stock input shafts.

i also have a 466 truck motor complete running but wanted to save it .. and a 1086 i could use if neccesary. but wanted to stay old school with the 06 series

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 12:58PM
You mentioned "limited income", to be half way competitive in the MSTPA and MMTTPA profield class youre talking a pretty big chunk of change. Have you considered pulling farm stock for a while and work your way up the ladder?

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 01:10PM
didnt know their was a farm stock class in either one of those sanctions..but yea id definatly consider it.. just didnt know how much it would take to get started .. im a rookie.. we have been "brush pulling" for a couple yrs with that tractor and others but its what i called farm stock .. i want to run sumthing besides a 5mph class i thought maybe i could get into a bigger pool of pullers there isnt many brush pulls around mo that i know of.. what does farm stock consist of ?

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 01:24PM
Neither of these groups have a farmstock class, but there is a group starting in central MO with some 7 mph and 12.5 mph classes, here is the website if you want to check out the rules [missourifarmpullers.com] .

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 01:49PM

Re: 361 ih February 24, 2011 01:58PM

Is it a machine shop over there?

Re: 361 ih February 25, 2011 07:47AM
Yes, they'll know what you need for the class you want to run.
