Oil Cooler JD 466 March 06, 2011 10:13AM
I need to remove the oil cooler on a JD 466 to make some room. Can I just make two plates and block off the passages? Or does the oil need to circulate or anything special I need to do?

factory or external pump ? Crank or cam driven?

Cam driven factory pump.

Ours is an external pump & we took all the plumbing out inside the pan, but if everything is intact it should just
bypass the cooler if the bottom is plated off. If you prefer a short loop could be made using the 2 holes in the block
that wouldn't take much room, & the oil would flow normally. I'd be leary of pushing that cam drive oil pump too hard
though.
