Well I'm new to pulling and to this site so I'm looking for some expierenced feedback
I have a 1990 f250 ext cab long bed that I want to use as a daily driver with decent milage and a fart ton of go! 99% of my driving is all highway and a good buddy advised me to throw a dt360 with a RTO610 and a divorced 205 in her so that's the plan Now 3 questions 1 how do I get streetable reliable big hp numbers for daily driving out of her 2 what class if any would I be able to or should I be aiming to compete in 3 I want 600-1000 hp fuel only daily how much roughly would it cost to get this power and what mods should I be doing ? Thanks a lot guys I hope I get some good feedback Aaron V. |

DT-360 is a tough engine, quite a bit stouter than a 5.9 Cummins. Fuel and a turbo is all you need to get that power. However 600-1000 hp and still daily drive it won't be fun with a manual pump. you'll constantly be turning fuel and timing down to drive it down the road and back up for the pull. |

Most places will have rules that say.. "Available in a 1 ton or smaller" when looking at the engine.. I know its the same cubes or smaller.. This would be the advantage of the cummins.. or you get stuck in an open class.
What is the RTO610? Bryan |

The RTO610 is a medium duty Fuller Roadranger.
I really don't think you'd be a happy camper with that in a pickup, as the ratio's are fairly close. Even skip shifting, you'd be doing ALOT of shifting. I'd think you'd be much happier with an Allison auomatic. School buses used these and they are plentiful out there. The Allison 545 was standard but there is also the 643 which could withstand a bit more torque. The 545 would probably fit, the 643 is larger and would take some shoe horning. With the horsepower you're talking about, it might be quite expensive to build either one to withstand the torque output, especially in a pulling scenario. I know the GM, Dodge and Ford trany's can be built to withstand high torque output, but not sure they could be adapted to an IH DT360. |

The Dt360 has a SAE And I agree but he'll no not to be offensive the day I start driving an automatic is the day I stop driving anyone have a better transmission idea that will be both economical and hold high torque ? And I agree but I don't way a dang cummins lol |

Put a six speed behind it. Alotof them floating around. I know where 3 or 4 are right now. And the 6 speed id stronger. That rto 610 is only rated for 600 ft lbs. |

I appreciate it but as my daily it has to be a manual and I know the 545 allison is an automatic which model 6 speed that's more what I'm looking for |
