4010 finals on 4020 brake issues May 28, 2011 11:42AM
Need to modify brake plates in order for 4010 finals to go on 4020 back half. Was curios to know what other people have done to resolve the issue of the 10 series brake plates in he 20 series housing and the planetaries are located out more on the 10 series axles. Or where's a good place to get external brake plates for this?

have to use all 4010 parts including disc, you have to widen the notches in you 4020 housings by about 3/8 in. for the pins in you brake floter plate. then you have to open the id on you housings by about 1/16x 1x4 deep, keep trying your axles till they slide in with no gaskets ,then install all 4010 pinion, disc ,brake plate, gasket.make sure you protect your housings from metal shavings!

Yes you need all 4010 parts. Instead of figting with machining the rear end though I just put the brake plates in the lathe and turned the outside down so they would go in the 4020 sized rear.

If you just turn the 4010 plate down does it work okay not having the notches fit or did ya leave them in? Thinking of just bitinh the bullet, and going external. Any ideas of who is building hats, and calipers that will work? Thanks for the help!!
