De-cubing a 404 John Deere

I was curious if anyone has de-cubed a 404 in the past? If so did you run into any valve problems? i am looking to make this into a 360ci motor and would be taking the each hole in about 1/4 inch. Any ideas or input on this would be appreciated. I know there is a 359ci deere out there but i have a 4010 with a cluch setup for a 404, thats the reason for the destroking. Edited 2 time(s). Are you going to destroke.. or just narrow the cylinders down?? I know some are narrowing the bore down on the 496 to 466.. just have to notch the sleeves.. I would think you could just do the same.. |

Sell the clutch set up, buy a 4030 or 4055 adapter plate and use the 359 and take advantage of the 359's cross flow head.

Are you building a smoker or a sparky? If sparky you could use the gas blocks. If smoker you can probably make the valves clear but it might not breathe all that well. What are you looking to do with it? Turbo size? RPM's? |

I am looking to build a diesel in a 3000 rpm class running with 5.9 cummins. As far as turbos go I'm not sure Ive been running a 301 gas ih so this will be a learning process but may start with a 3lm or something along that line. |
