this my first year pulling a farm stock 4430. until i get enough money to buy a 55 series 466 engine, i am just running my 404. i'm glad to see your getting into pulling with a john deere and not one of those red ones.

I just started too. im running my 4430 with a 404 with alot of pump work done. I bought it that way and havnt pulled with it yet. Thanks for the info and yes deere is the going way to go. Have any other info please let me know.

Depending on the pump rule if its A-pump then 4055-4255-4455-4555-4755 or if its P-pump then 4955.Thumbs Up

Well, I needed some "help" at one time also so here is my advice. With what you have said, the absolute best engine you could buy/find would be one out of a 9500 combine. This is assuming your 3000 rpm class is also A-pump. You get lots of goodies with this motor, good head, good compression ratio, probably lower hours, and straight cut timing gears to mention a few. I do have one sitting on the floor if you are interested. Where are you located?
