Rumor is it was the promoters last year, hopefully someone else will step in and continue the showme showdown another 25 yrs. Hats off to the track guys, 100 degree heat both days but they some how managed to keep the track in it's best condition in a long time!Thumbs Up

From what I understand from a good source,The show me showdown will continue,Their is talk of bringing the 4.1 class in just for one thing, the local promoters that put this show on deserve a pat on the back this year, the heat was horrable and without any doubt had to affect the crowd,It is a huge job to promote a pull at this level and the expense is high,we people west of the mississipi river get very few chances to see this high level of competation any more, and the best of the best were their. The fans got to see a wonderful show for the ticket price,it is my hope's that the promoter's came out above expenses for the pull,The dollars a pull brings into a local economy should never be over looked,do the local bussiness's get in and support the show,do the local people support the show,it all counts up,and do local puller's go to support and learn what they can? It was ther 25th year that alone is a huge accomplishment, yes the have had many challenges over the years, but once again I was proud to be their and ready to go back next year, the good lord willing.

I heard also this is the last year for PPL to be at Macon. The pull for about 20 plus years was the first full weekend in August, and then PPL give the date to someone else, and it was the last weekend in July. Then for the last 2 years they gave that date to someone else, and it has been the week before that, on top of the big Outlaw event in Montgomery City, about 100 miles to the east, along with another Outlaw event in Platte City which is about 100 miles west. Plus other pulls in the around Missouri & Iowa. This is the worst crowd ever at Macon. The heat was part of the problem, but look at the pictures posted by Jeese, and you will see empty seats everwhere, even under the shaded grandstands area. PPL treated Macon liked crap.

Re: results PPL Show Me Showdown July 23 July 25, 2011 06:01AM
treated them poorly in what way? The outlaw events certainly didn't affect the level of competition at macon. It might have affected a few fans decision on where to go, however heat and economics surely had as much effect. PPL has provided macon with a heck of a show. Weather and track conditions in the past have been what hurt the sms pull, regardless of the sanctioning body. Also i believe the date changes may have possibly been to try to get out of the rainy weather pattern that has plagued the event. but seriously you need to explain your statement. event scheduling is always going to conflict between the organizations.

Re: results PPL Show Me Showdown July 23 July 25, 2011 06:13AM
Wake up! PPL wanted other events on Macons date and made Macon move off of the 20 year date that they had. 2 years ago it was the Indiana State Fair that PPL wanted, even though it was already Macons date and it would move Macon on top of established events in Missouri, and yes it was poor fan turnout because of this and that is what pays the bills. Nothing to do with the weather.

Re: results PPL Show Me Showdown July 23 July 25, 2011 07:46AM
you're probably right, rainouts every year probably had nothing to do with itSpinning Also Macon didn't have a 20 year date with ppl. Who would you have as the sanctioning body at Macon?

Re: results PPL Show Me Showdown July 23 July 25, 2011 10:58PM
2 weeks is not going to change the chance of getting rained out. As far as pulling fans go, the 1st weekend in August was the big Macon pull, and fans came from far away to see. Other associations left that date open because of that. Yes some have rained out over the years, but how many pulls havent had a rainout after 20 years of a 2 to 3 day event. No matter who the sanctioning body was, it was always the same date. I can remember some great years with NTPA, and even one year with Outlaws, then ATPA and now PPL. Same date until the last 3 or 4 years with PPL and then the dates started moving forward 1 week then 2 weeks. That caused lots of conflicts with other pulls in Missouri and lead to less and less fans to watch the event. Heard it wasnt the promoters choice to move date.

It sure was a good pull, their was a sled operation lack of experiance with the big mod's on sat. night, all in all after my 25th year of traveling to the show me showdown,it was fantastic.
