Quad Range July 30, 2011 03:04PM
Guys - Im looking for your opinion on what is better to use. I am putting together a quad range and cant dicide if I should use the 144 small needle bearings or the 6 needle bearing carrier assy. I am leaning towards the 144 individuls over the other style. Was hopping someone has had some better luck with one over the other and could let me know which way to go. These are te bearings that go in the 3 planet pinions. Thanks for any opinions

The JD9926 bearings hold up fine. The increased number of needles was for longer wear not more capacity.

Thanks for the reply. I just was thinking more needles = more strength but im no engineer. The jd9926 bearing just looks weaker to me but I thought I would get some opinions.

The output shaft from the 2spd twists off long before the bearings or planets cause any problems.

Can anything be done to make the shaft stronger, I keep looking at that shaft and wonder how its going to hold also
