Oliver vs IH August 01, 2011 01:16PM
What Oliver rearend is comparable to an IH 560? Weight wise and that can take the abuse.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 01, 2011 03:49PM
i am not up on my olivers but i would guess a 1650 or 1655 are the the same as a 880. somebody will set me straight. either way they seem to be pretty tough in llss. dont know what you plan on

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 05:02AM
I'm not sure about the IH tractors, but I've been told 560 cast centers will fit on an M. I know an M axle is the same as an 88. An 88 has a 2 3/4" axle. I think the 880 has the same size, maybe even a 1600 as well. But the 1650 should be the same as a 1655. The 1655 has a 2 7/8" axle. These remained the same up through the end of the run for the White 2-70 (1983), and was resurrected for the White American 80 (1989-1993).

I think the 1655 rearend is the way to go, there is a 1655 in Badger State LLSS and a 2-70 in ORVTPA LLSS, so they can take the punishment (stronger than a 560) and light enough to get down to 5500 in a farm stock application.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 06:14AM
Like said 88 has 2 3/4 axles a Super 88 has 2 7/8 axles which would be same as 880.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 06:14AM
super 88s and 880s the 3 7/8 axles

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 08:51AM
Thanks for your help. I'm considering a LLSS and I think and oliver would look good in that class. MY next question is what motor besides the 5.9 cummins would be a good fit. I've never been around oliver's however I think it would be neat to see something different in that class. Thanks again!

decube a cat,

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 12:08PM
The Hercules 478 would be another option for your Oliver. They came in the 2150 and 2050 and a couple whites. Im in the process of building one right now for my oliver. If anyone has any suggestions/parts to help me out im always willing to listen thanks

Re: Oliver vs IH August 02, 2011 04:41PM
It depends on where you are running as to what to build. If it's with Badger State (diesel only LLSS), the 1655 in there is running a twin charger Waukesha 310, since the rules allow twins if under 315 ci. Nothing wrong with the Cummins, it's a great engine. But I'm tired of seeing it from the 90% of FWD trucks that run it. It's not a problem yet, but if the class takes off nationwide, it might be an all Cummins class with all the brands that engine came in and all the R&D already in place from truck pullers. I'd just hate to see it turn into like the Pro Stock class where everything is either a 619 Deere or a 540/640 IH. If one guy can get the Waukesha at the top of the points, why can't another. I like to see someone try something different and succeed. Anybody can write checks (REI for the Deeres and Hypermax for the IH) for their engines. It takes real talent, dedication, and smarts to successfully run something different.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 03, 2011 01:55AM
I was looking at the cat option last night. seems like the 3116 is closest are far as cubes go for the ORV/BOB rules. But what does the oliver brand have near that 370 range.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 03, 2011 01:57AM
How about a 471 detroit bored out to use 92 series liners (368 cid)?

Re: Oliver vs IH August 03, 2011 03:31AM
prewitts are running a strong perkins in their massy, with spark plugs...not sure if its based off of the 354 that olivers ran

Re: Oliver vs IH August 03, 2011 07:59AM
I have a 1655 chassis that would be for sale pretty reasonable. Jeff 308-940-0255 Central City, NE

Re: Oliver vs IH August 03, 2011 01:01PM
354 perkins runs pretty good on alky

Re: Oliver vs IH August 04, 2011 10:43AM
will a destroked cat 3116 with a 3" charger on alky run?

Re: Oliver vs IH August 04, 2011 01:38PM
i dont think there are any tractors that used a cat 3116. probably not going to be legal unless you plan on hooking in the mod class.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 04, 2011 02:57PM
wasn't there one in a cat when they were first introduced before it became an Agco product

Re: Oliver vs IH August 14, 2011 01:42PM
the 2255 oliver and 180 white both had 3208 cat's in them. there is one running in pro stock in the NYPA. its all custom built with a 5" columbus charger and sigma pump.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 14, 2011 02:02PM
sure there are plenty of cat 3208 out there but there are no cat 3116 in tractors. not legal.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 14, 2011 11:23PM
Would it be legal in a Cat badged tractor. Wasn't this motor in the original Caterpillar offering before the agco takeover.

Re: Oliver vs IH August 15, 2011 01:37AM
I looked at the Nebraska Test data and I don’t think there were any wheeled Cat tractors using the Cat Inline 6. I’m not 100% sure, but I think all the tractors badged as Cat’s are tracked. The tractors badged as Challenger (Agco's) seem to either use a Sisu or a Perkins.

Most (if not all) organizations have a rule that states that the combination must be from a two wheel drive tractor, front wheel assist (FWA) tractors are usually grouped with the two wheel drive tractors based on their chassis. In most rules books engines from 4wd tractors and tracked vehicles are usually excluded.

My $.02… for a LLSS, it seems like a 310 Waukesha can take some serious abuse and the 880 is some great looking tin.

PayPal did not provide definitions for some of these vague terms. Woke corporate policies regarding "misinformation" could result in an automatic fine of $2,500 which would have been removed directly from the customer’s PayPal account. PayPal did backdown from some of their policies but quietly implemented portions of them in later terms of service. A financial institute has no right to monitor social media accounts or speech. This is unacceptable and I'll no longer do business with PayPal.

According to Cat the track tractors are 2wd but what do I know.
