whats the best way to make some power out of a 301cid ih gasser? thanks any ideas would be great

Start with Pertronix ignition, 40k volt coil, and wider plug gaps. Get your rpm up as high as rules allow- those engines like to rev. If you need to, put a heavier spring on the governor, or just run a piece of wire to hold it tight. Beyond that, bigger cubes and better flowing head can get you some big hp- it just takes money!

biggest issue with these engines is, its hard to get cubes out of them. we spin ours around 5000 rpm's just to make good power, at 3000 its not bad, but just not a lugging motor

about $7000 will make it run.. but if u can run rd 501, its a much better start for high hp.
