John Deere lays off 310 workers in Iowa
From the article: "Hundreds of John Deere employees were laid off Friday at two plants in Iowa. According to Iowa’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, 310 workers between plants at Dubuque and Davenport have found themselves without a job due to the mass layoffs. According to the site, notice was given to the employees in June. Ninety-nine employees have been let go from the plant in Dubuque and 211 employees were let go from the plant in Davenport. John Deere says its sales have dropped 20% and employment cuts have been required across the company despite beating earning expectations in the third quarter..." More to the article. It's interesting that they beat earning expectations and still did layoffs, except maybe their expectations were to lost a lot of money and they didn't lose as much as anticipated. |

To be fair, I think that skidloaders were the only line moved to Mexico.
As to the DEI stuff, they can stuff it. I doubt many of the woke crowd are customers to begin with beyond a lawn mower. |

There is no sustainability to selling million dollar X9 combines to large farmers who buy new every year or two and nobody next in line to buy that large expensive stuff used. Its not just combines and its not just John Deere. The large farmers buying this massively big s**t are buying new. The gap between the 500 to 1000 acre family farm and the 20,000+ acre farmer just keeps growing. Resale values on this equipment are going to take major hits in the years to come. Not to mention the headaches all the electronics and emissions crap cause. I believe eventually the future will be several 8 or 12 row pices of equipment fully automated being sent to the filed and ran from a office. But until then the push to make everything bigger will make finding a second and third owner for used equipment harder and harder. And resale value on used equipment will hurt new equipment sales. These John Deere layoffs are just the beginning to the next major shift in ag equipment manufacturers, one like we haven't seen since the manufacturers consolidations of the 80s. |

Deere states that the (25%??) increase in union labor contract negotiation (from 2 years ago) and was finalized, has nothing to do with these layoffs.
I do not totally believe that. Every (big) company has been riding the inflation cycle with increasing their prices in order to keep their investors happy, which is the company primary objective. |

Maybe

Maybe the beginning of the end. Seems impossible but there was a point in time no one thought IH, Sears, Radio Shack, Blockbuster, JC Penny, Toys R US, or many others would fall, but they did. I sure wouldn't be holding any stock in John Deere long term if it were me. Never say never. Just my opinion. |

So true,I had a major contract with the 16 largest.company in that market in the u.s.a.
The company was sold to a small group of investors that had no knowledge of the products or customer service. The company went downhill quickly, and out of business in 30 months. |

Why is Trump, (who mouths off way too often with stupid stuff,) threatening JD whom is only taking advantage of USMCA who was promoted and literally authored by Trump himself. |
Re: John Deere news

Nope

The USMCA is all about free trade, not about factories relocating. How is trying to keep one of the last American tractor makers home stupid??? |

How do you promote free trade without expecting work to move to the lowest wage region? |
