Saturday Night Finals

We’ve got an absolutely incredible lineup of vehicles for the pull tonight.  These are the best of the best; all these tractors battled and beat the best in the country to get here.

  • Joe Eder and the Finishline Xpress.  Joe starts far right hand side of the track.  Joe has the mod balanced perfect again tonight.  The frame is working perfectly and Joe is hook to the ground, it’s not the best hole shot I’ve seen him make but he has the horses where it counts, at the far end of the track.  He just drags the sled with brute force and easily puts it in the sand 241.94
  • Bill Leischner and the Dirtslinger lines up in the dead center of the track.  Bill heads just right of center on the great looking mod.  The frame is flexing and the old ten ply are hooking good but the right corner of the track make Bill work to get to 231.00
  • Don Nelson and the Texas Bullwhip, the DT 466 builds boost, and the Don hammers the two chevy in, something in the drivetrain lets go and Don’s night is over almost as quickly as it started, tough luck, but it’s an honor just to make it to the finals here at Louisville 114.74
  • Bob Jostock and the Wild child line the sled up right of center.  The flag goes green an Bob wastes no time dropping the hammer.  He has a nice pass going with the mod hooked up well, and then the right rear motor throws a rod, and the left rear brake a blower belt and possibly more more brakeage for the Lapeer MI native, the night comes to a close at 221.16
  • The legendary Ken Veney on the line, three Veney/Sassy hemis on board, and even though there are only three Ken get a ton out of them.  Ken make a picture perfect run, the stands shake, and he brings the nose of the tractor in the air with a pretty pass.  He ends his run just left of center at 223.84
  • Bill Voreis and American Thunder on the line.  Center of the track, and the only guy running chevy motors.  He gets more out of the wedge heads than anyone.  He gets a great hole shot, he stays on the left side of the track.  The tractor is weighted perfect and flys toward the sand pile, he looks like he’s headed for the sand but the sled jerk him to a quick halt.  He breaks a blower belt on the right front motor at the end of his run but it doesn’t really hurt his distance as he wasn’t going any further but it is god enough for second place with a run of 239.50.
Very Quick class of mods, and a great show.  It was a good class of mods an the American Thunder Tractor looked very strong for only it’s second hook.  It should be an interesting summer on the national circuits.

Twd are set to run

  • Jimmy Mattingly is up first.  Jamies Revenge is up first.  He has the truck weight good and has a nice pass going but he breaks a blower belt and drops the test hook.
  • Donnie Sullivan and the Rent-A-Wreck dodge spots the sled clear off to the left side of the track.  Donnie is running a tall gear today on the dodge.  The motor has just enough horses to hold on and keep things rolling, he picks the front 3 feet, bounces it picks it 3 feet again and pulls to the right hand corner of the track and set the mark at 232.53.  Strong run, and he used every horse he had to get there.
  • Steve Jacks and the Shell Rotella Dodge spot the sled on the far left hand side also.  The silver dodge follows Sullivan but has a lot more RPM on the shell sponsored machine.  H has the front 2 feet in the air and just flies into the sand pile.  The fiberglass body hits the sand hard and he burys it deep but no damage is done with that impressive hook, 244.49.
  • Jeremy Nelson and the Midnight Gambler.  Jeremy spots the sled on the far right and heads from right to left on the gambler.  It’s a strong run with the nose of the old panel van three feet high.  He doesn’t have the ground speed of Jacks but it is still a very strong pass at 230.75.
  • Adrian Hunter and the Hunter Ford.  Adrian is in the center of the track with the full-sized ford.  Green flags and Adrian heads straight down the center of the track.  The front is only a few inches off the ground and it is a very good run, but it’s not going to be good enough tonight at 232.97, but that puts him currently in the number two spot.
  • Brian Nelson and the Texas Stampede head out on to the track, I’m not quite sure if you would call this a bucket truck, a roadster, or what but it runs real strong and like to hook well here.  Brian is on the far left hand side of the track and shoots straight down the side line, about 5 feet off the left line and steals the number two spot at 237.24
  • Ricky Long and the Willy Makit truck stay on te left hand side of the trck, the left seems to be working well for these guys today.  Three feet off the ground with the frontend, a a perfect hook.  He drift toward the left hand line and about an inch of chalk disappears, but that all it takes, a DQ.  That hook looked like it may have shaken up the order.  They are calling it tight here and doing an excellent job.
  • Shannon Leischner and the dirtsling spot the sled off to the right.  The truck comes out hard and coughs, and then light back up then coughs, then light then coughs and finally cleans out.  He had a very respectable pass despite the motor not cooperating, 227.64
Mattingly can’t get thing back together in time and the win goes to Steve Jacks.  Jack completely out paced the rest of the class tonight and fought for the well deserved win.  Excellent sled setting tonight for the two wheel drive trucks, one finally in the sand and everyone else threatening to make it there.  As a side note the ATPA was well represented in this excellent class of vehichles.

Smoke tube is attached and the Super Farm are ready to go

  • Nick Skaar take a slow ride down the track on the screamin Norwegian CIH.  He carries the front well bounces the front a feet times and just drives down the the right had side of the track at 231.67.  He drops the hook
  • John Hoffman takes the Mark 50 out from right of center to left of center.  He has to get on the brakes and spins the big Case IH out at 221.29.  A little discussion on the sled, not sure if the class is set of if we are getting a restart.
  • Larry Wolff and the very stout Wolfgangs Warrior John Deere.  Center of the track, and the boost builds.  The clutch lock in and the double cuts start to churn.  Larry hooks left and he taps the brakes, the big deere is really moving down the track with good speed and he charge past the leaders cone and set a very impressive mark to beat at 235.11.
  • Center of the track for the Briskie owned Bodacious.  The big deere build boost and then the clutch engages, the deere quickly dies and creeps out of the hole at approximately 2 mile per hour.  He hangs with it to get all he can but it’s only 101.54.
  • Grand National runner up, and extremely consistent Tony Sietsma and the Wolverine Deere.  Center of the track, on the 4430, the nose is up and he stands it up out to 110 feet.  He charges down the center of the track on the JD and pulls right next to the leaders cone.  A long wait for the distance and a quick Syngenta commericial.  Butch announces to the crowd that we have a new leader, 235.90
  • Nick Skaar is back afer the test hook.  Nick starts in the center and heads left, he has to get on the brakes but he still powers his way into the second place spot with a very impressive run, gamble of dropping the test hook paid off, 235.50
  • Harry Bledsoe and the Red Dog, harry changed turbos from the other night and the dog is line up o the far right side of the track.  Harry carries the front end all the way out to 120 feet.  The Dog is running very well tonight.  Harry just keeps dragging the sled and he pulls right next to the leaders cone, it’s close, it’s real close, 235.98, good enough to take the lead.
  • Justin Kavan and the Magnum Force.  Far right for Justin, he has a very strong hole shot on the IH.  He is building a ton of speed when the magnum starts to bounce on him.  The tires load and unload and the motor lugs through it but the bounce kill any hope of Louisville glory that Justin has.230.82
  • Kevin Walker and the Thunderstruck tractor gets bouncing immediately out of the hole.  The tractor never settles in and Kevin is off the pace for the seventh spot at 220.62
Diesel Superstock time

A stock tractor chassis cleaned house in this class the other night, and there are a ton of component tractors waiting to knock off the extremely strong running stray horse.  Six of the most powerful multicharger diesel Superstocks ever built are set to go.

  • The Stray Horse of Dave Henderson on the line.  Can he repeat his run of three nights ago?  Quick answer Yes he can!  Right of center, and just an awesome pass the wheels are up and the single cuts are just burning.  The horse just launches down the track and into the sand, 246.00
  • Redline Fever has problems out of the hole, the big binder just didn’t want to light.  Second attempt and the old 1486 lights a little better this time.  He charges down the track with the nose low and the single cuts spinning he comes up well off the pace at 234.89
  • Steve Blagrave and the Red Horse.  It’s one of nicest looking tractors in the class, the horse works hard a labors with a set of single cut tires on for this trip down the track.  Not sure if they have ever run singles on this chassis before but it’s not the horses night, and he falls a little further behind at 222.63.
  • Dennis Goodwin and the second Magnum force of the Night.  Far right hand side of the track for this Outlaw puller.  Dennis never gets it rolling like he wants, he never has the motor or the wheel speed on the binder, he falls a little further behind at 219.96.  I don’t think the track is going away I just think the tractors are not living up to there potential, except the stray horse.
  • Esdon Lehn and his second ride, the Redline fever too.  Puller 2000 tires providing the bite good hook with the front end low but it isn’t even close to the mark, 226.76.
  • One to go, one last bullet for the Stray horse to dodge, it Jay Fuqua and the Tennessee Tracks.  His old chassis loved this track, but the new one didn’t hook up as well the other night lets see if he can get the jog done tonight.  Jay pushes the track hard, but it isn’t meant to be 212.45
The stock chassis reighs supreme tonight.  Great passes by the Stray horse all week, it still looks great and it still hooks great after quite a few years.

Alky power is set to go its Open/Unlimited SS time

A few blocks have been added to the sled for the big Methanol burners.

  • The deep rumble of a V-8 and Jordan Lustik is set to kick of the class.  Far right hand side of the track as usual for Jordan.  It’s a nice looking pass, Jordan is as cool and skilled as they come, but it’s not a nice sounding pass, right off the bat Jordan loses a cylinder and makes the entire pass on 7 out of eight it storng, but will it be stong enough? 241.75
  • Sid Broughton and Return of Desperado, far right hand side of the track, The Magmum sounds very clean and very powerful tonight.  The tractor drifts to the left and Sid just can’t bring it back around, he has to get out of it and keeps it in  by a hair at 232.62.  Too bad, he was sand bound
  • John Evan and Big Toy II.  John lines up in Sids tracks.  His run is nearly identical but he gets it corrected and stays in the throttle and just sneaks it past Jordan by a whisker and makes it out the gate 241.76.
  • Joe Kwiatkowski is just right of center, not near as far as Sid and Evans.  The big Deere tighten the chain.  Joe stays right for his run and the tractor doesn’t run clean, and the track doesn’t seem to want to hook, very disappoint hook For one of the top tractors in the country, 230.27
  • Larry Roberts and what I believe to be very many borrowed or bought parts off of Ken Measels tractor.  The big IH works real hard, and the nose stays low to the ground.  Larry has it on kill but it doesn’t have it tonight, not the cleanest run and the power that was there didn’t make it to the ground 237.57.
  • Dave Sonnentage and Savage, Dave starts out far right and starts to drift left, he corrects it quick and has a strong run but it’s not going to be enough, 224.47, still a very stout run.
Pulloff Time: Alkys
This is a grudge match, Lustik team: ATPA champs, and Roberts team: TPA champs.  There is no love lost between these two guys.  eaf blowers are cooling down the Big Toy II and Jordan has just put the ullet back together to see if it will run on all eight. ul> li> ordan is first and the big white is right of center.  The motor is till not as crisp as I’ve heard, it was another smooth as silk driving ob for Jordan and even when the tractor has got a little flu it is still ery, very impressive and is going to be tough to beat 245.67, just into he sand pile for the young vetran.
  • Larry Robert is standing at the far end.  John Evans is just right of center, John is going to have to be perfect to win, infact he will probably have to be better than perfect to beat than monster pass by Jordan.  Tight chain, green flag, and awesome Rpm. The front is low to the ground and the tractor is locked to the track.  Evans does a great job driving the IH and it is as good a run as you could ask for but it just isn’t good enough, 240.70.  Lustik gets the better of the Roberts Team for the second time this weekend.
  • Great finish to a great class.  The binders were just a few horses short of the big White tonight.

    Prostock Finals
These are tractor fans and there are a lot of people that came to see this class.

    • Mike Boyd and the grean streak II laid down some awesome runs this week.  He starts far right, and the just lock, and launhes out of the hole.  Mike is drifting to the left and the big deere is digging it’s way extremely quickly toward he sand pile, excellent run to get the class rolling with and pass deep into the sand at 248.68, and he had to get out of the throttle.
    • Jason Miller is set just left of center to see if the sled is set or if he can put it deep into the sand.  Jason comes out strong, the IH drift to the left and Jason has to get on the brake.  He brings it around but the IH gets bucking and bouncing as it straightens out and the red mule doesn’t make it to the sand at 237.60.
    • Carl Smith is one of the IH that red fans have always relied on to shake up the green.  Right of center and this veteran has another great run.  He doe another great driving jog on the IH and he has great wheel speed and great Rpm but he doesn’t get the ground speed up to reach the sand pile and he falls short of the sand at 241.60.
    • Ray
    • Link and the Gon Moken has really stepped up to the plate.  Ray stands it up on the wheelie bars, pedals the brakes and rockets down the track.  The Link Trucking machine is just on a tear today and pulls into the promise land at 243.70  just out the gate as the fullpull is announce at 243.
    • Right of center for Don Masterson and the Tinker Toy.  It just seems like Don is always in the hunt no matter the what the even is, Don pulls to the left hand corner and the tractor is just locked into the track with an excellent pass but just short, 240.17
    • Robby Lemke and the New Generation Plus line up on the right and just roars the little 4010 down the right hand line.  The righthand lane doesn’t hookup real well for Robbie, his motor is there and the front is in the air but Robbie come to a stop on the far right corner at 229.30.
    • Scott Teipen and the Night Life JD is on the line after a quick smoke tube repair.  This big small-block is very capable of making power and getting it to the ground.  I don’t know how he does it but almost every pass looks the same, the tractor seems to dig in squat down and the nose comes up 4 feet and then scott is gone, straight and easy down the center of the track and out the end to 245.14  Another great run for the deere.
    • Steve Wischmeier and the Barely Getting By tractor on the line.  The tractor looks almost identical to Scotts and his pass is looking about the same.  The front is a little lower to the ground, and good thing, the motor just quits on the great looking 4450 and it just dies on Steve, real tough break for the Getting’ By team
    • Linder Brothers make it look easy on a regular basis, and tonigh is no exception.  The tractor is back on the wheelie bars and it looks like it gliding on ice as it easily parks the sled into the sand pile at 247.93.
    • He only build big blocks, and he builds some of the prettiest tractors.  Just a hair roght of center on the 7520, the Gang Green winds up and lance bends over the throttle.  It’s a good run but it’s not going to be good enough 234.22
    • Bartie Nelson and the last red tractor in the class.  Dreaded Red.  Bartie pushes the tractor real hard the front is up and the tractor is cruising but he comes up just short at 235.22.  Tons of red fans stand up and leave in disgust.
    • The last tractor in the class, the Ace in the hole, it’s a good run down the left hand side but Jerry has to get on the brakes and he spins out at 221.25

    Pulloff time Prostock

    • Streak II to kick it off.  Far right, to far left and mike stands on the right brake.  He does a good job keeping the extremely strong deere between the chalk, he powers his way to set the mark at 226.33
    • Linders have some breakage and won’t be able to hook.
    • Ray Link Hooks to the Ironman to see if luck stays on his side.  Ray has a stellar Run, he has a powerful run going and it looks like the leaders cone is going to move, and then all off a sudden something lets go and the squeaking sound of metal on metal and a pull of white smoke and Ray’s dream weekend come to a halt at 222.34. He can’t do any worse than third, very impressive.
    • Night Life center of the track, will it be big block or small block?  Scott stands it up burns the tires and brings the nose off the ground he has it hooked and he shoots a laser line just left of center down the track.  He is just steam rolling his way down the track.  Scott turn blast past the leaders cone and picks up the win at 229.54.  The small block are still the tractors to beat.
Great end to another great event.
