No question the Blackbourn tractors deserve the credit they get. However, it's a tough class to win when you have most of the LSS tractors all together. Winners for the last 5 years of NFMS were the following: '22 Armed and Dangerous Excessive Force, '21 COVID, '20 Alter Ego, '19 Extremely Insane, '18 Tennessee Tracks. COVID won as many times as anyone the last 5 yea

Sorry to upset anyone. Anyways, I will keep running my toy tractor and shut up. Didn't mean to do anything but say I don't understand the big deal about what a tractor is called. They are mods plain and simple to me. I will try to refrain from responding to topics. Didn't mean to upset anyone. Wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!

Its funny how the board is filled with a "controversy" of "is it a tractor or is it something else." Sure be nice to read interesting things such as how they performed at the last pull or what do you suppose the next breakthrough in horsepower will be, etc etc. Instead we have all turned this into an argument page over things that just don't matter much. Most classes have, at the most, a blo

Recast block gets it. Still amuses me that anyone can honestly believe these machines are an IH or a JD. Goodness. As far as I'm concerned we can go to aluminum blocks for longevity. But that's just me.

Exactly! ONE Piece of a stock tractor DON'T make it a JD or an IH. These are hot rod high performance MACHINES. NOTHING stock about any of them. And some of them are a RECAST block at that. Stock? Come on guys. If you want to watch some stock parts going down the track there is plenty of associations to go watch that.
Maybe I should go to my local dealer and buy a NH steering wheel and the

Let traction control be legal? How about we just take the driver component out of the equation all together and let a computer drive it? Kind of like a tesla or some farm tractors and combines now? That way the show will be better. Just a tractor going down the tractor without a driver.

Jake, does a chunk of cast (block) make it an engine? The block seems to me to like a shell enclosing the engine. Just one part. The fans that realize tractors (like mine) do not use the block that matches the sheet metal (I mean carbon fiber) are the same fans that realize that a block does not make it a deere or an IH. ONE part from the entire list of parts in a stock tractor. We use almost NOT

So the pistons, etc are similar designs but does that make them a JD? Just saying NOTHING is oem. Copies are not oem.

Then if we go back to carpet matching the drapes (very funny analogy) shouldn't the sheet metal match the ACTUAL block it came with? Therefore, if you use new model sheet metal that DIDN'T come with a 466 (IH or Deere) block you have to use the ACTUAL block that came with that sheet metal? LOTS of problems with this thought. Do we really want to see all IH 1066 hoods? I know there are o

One more post.... again not trying to be argumentative. There are reasons why pullers who want to be competitive put different brand sheet metal than the brand of the stock cast block. In practically every tractor class there is an inherent advantage to one brand over another. Things such as a stronger block, bore centers, valve size, cross flow heads, etc come into play. So a puller (who wants t

Not trying to be argumentative but seriously is the block make it a John deere or an ih? It doesn't in mine. I just enjoy the high performance aspect of it. If it ran I wouldn't care if it was pink (well maybe that's taking it too far). Just having some fun pulling. Let the announcers have their fun with the sheet metal. Pullers and serious fans know what is really under the hoods.

It's a block and only a block. Took me while to accept different sheet metal too. However, there is NOTHING jd or ih or new Holland etc in these things. They are race tractors using all custom made parts from the hitch to the front weight bracket. They are a marvel to look at the ingenuity that goes into these. Honestly, it's fun to see different sheet metal (actually carbon fiber and a

Agree with "reasons" and "kudos." "IH 5488" just because you think it is a "stupid New Holland hood" a lot of people get tired of the all red and green show. What I don't understand is why do people tell other people what to build and how to build it. IT IS a free country. It's fun to have something different. If you want to build a 1066 sheet metal hood with DT 466 block then by all me

Cross dressing bothered me for a good while also. However, I had to come to the conclusion that there is virtually NOTHING John Deere, IH, Ford, AC, etc. on ANY of them. ONLY a dumb cast iron chunk we call a block is STOCK. So what am I doing? Building a cross dresser. HA. Hope everyone can enjoy tractor pulling regardless of what is under the hood.

I am wanting to buy new full face helmet for pulling and am confused on safety specs ratings. Probably pull all 3 major associations and they appear to have different specs. Outlaws sayDOT approved or SFI spec 41.2. PPL says Snell 90 or SFI spec 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2. What in world do I need? Most helmets say Snell 2015. What do I need? Thanks for the help!
