A friend of mine tried this last year with a 684. A fresh 784 motor was used and a turbo was added. He also added a brand new set of Firestone 23 degree radials. Unless your going to put in a crank with a MUCH longer stroke and run some outrageous R's...not worth the time. In the one class it pulled it was outpulled by several (strong) Farmall M's and JD 3020's.

If you look up higher on the postings, you'll find another thread on it. From the looks of it, exact same stuff, different people I would guess.

One of my favorite pulls every year! I wish the farm class had more consistant weight classes though. I had hoped it would change with the management.
5,500 7,500 9,500 12,500 15,500 18,500 and unlimited seem more reasonable to me.
A 2,000 lb difference between the smaller classes and 3,000 lbs between the big ones. It never seemed fair to me that a guy with a Farmall M should have to chu

I thought the show was great. If they tweak their camera angles so it looks like the tractors and trucks are going as fast as they are it will definitely help. I don't know if they did say it but if they said the speed it would help viewers unfamiliar to the sport understand more easily. Still loved watching it!

Mr. Thompson I do not believe those interested in the heavy class are whining. This is the closest pull to home for me and I'd like to actually be able to pull our big tractor without having to haul it. As the for the whining about the low number of pullers, I have attended this pull the past 5 years and have found that there are always lots of pullers. Don't be afraid to show up, ever

They usually have the wild rose sleds. Two tracks of pulling makes for a great night.

I've heard you need a plate that fits in between the engine and housing. Did you have to use that?

I can get a good 706 w/o 3 point and am thinking of making a pulling tractor. The friend of mine who told me about it suggested putting in a dt360. i realize this would fit better but there aren't many classes i could pull in and do well. What would I have to do to put in a 466? I plan on using 66 series sheetmetal if i can get this to happen. Has anyone done this before?
