All tractor engines have pistons with points on them. A series engines have 15/1 compression ratio and B and C series engines have 16.3/1 compression ratio. The rings on a 15/1 piston are lower then a 16/1 piston.

Need some advise on setting up an external oil system on a IH 400 series. Do I shim the stock PSI regulator? Do I block the filter bypass or shim to prevent oil bypassing the filters? TIA

I would recommend cutting the sleeves to accept fire rings. Hyper has a very good gasket and ring kit. I beleive sealtech can make the fire rings if you want to cut a stock gasket. The fire rings I have used are .105 and require the sleeves to be machined so there is room for the ring to crush.

Take 466 pistons machine .060-.075 0ff the top and hang them on big wrist pin 407 rods and bolt them to a 414 crank. I do not know if you will have any rod clearance issues. Maybe someone has tried this?

Does it matter if they go on the front or rear of the cage? On the Accu Feed cage I have on a 1086 they are on the rear. Is that up to spec?

Don't worry about the main shaft. It will work. The pinion gear is shaped different and the bearing sets the pinion depth along with the shims.

If I remember right the lip on the bearing that seats against the case and held by the retainer is different so the race can holder bigger bearing cones. I would say take the hit and get the right bearing. P.S. Don't ask how I now all this. lol Been there done that!

To install a 528707r93 in a 1066 you need to use brg 528684r91. 67765c91 is used with old 1066 ring and pinion. You will also need a brg retainer 135770c2 to match the new brg, which takes the place of the half moon style retainers you probably have now. The ring and pinion you have is ok your parts man just missed the updated substitutions. Let me know how you make out.
