5052 and 6061 are what we use the most of here at work and most of our parts are formed pieces of 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" thickness. 6061 can be formed as long as the radius of the bend is large enough, we do it on a regular basis. The 2 major differences in steel vs aluminum are fatigue strength and deflection. Aluminum deflects/flexes a greater distance without permenant damage.

Who is using what for SQHD center sections? As I see it there are 3 choices, the factory cast aluminum version, the factory cast iron version or the billet aluminum one from Humpco.
What is commonly used in the NTPA mod class, unlimited mod and unlimited super stocks? What about PPL's mod class?
We have broke 2 factory aluminum centers in 2 years. Both times it started to break when th

Allen, why is it that everytime I take your advice on what to tell my wife I get in trouble
I never would have guessed we would end up building 3 more engines and using 5 different long blocks through the season, all from driveline problems.
Thanks to Everyone!

I would like to thank all the fine folks that helped Dad get Sweet Pain together yesterday in the heat and humidity. Many were Mod competitors such as Paulson, Neaves, Behrends and Petsch, others were Wiens, Uncle Mark, Goodwin and I'm probably forgetting some but I wasn't there to know all of them.
Thank You!

What kind of tips or tricks do you use to seal up your split rims and tires? We have WhipStations and 30.5's if it makes any difference. We've had them apart and back together several times and can't seem to stop the leaks.

Sounds like Doug Lively's mod, Ricky Rose's mod and Gene Trueblood's mod are to be at a handfull of events. These are all hemi powered.
I would also assume that Cotton Candy will be at more events this year.

Our 10 plys were 385lbs and the 2000s were 420lbs, this is after Behrends Tire Cutting removed some weight by reshaping them.

rules - 13 years ago
I am interested to know what the rules are in this class. Where do I find them?
Is it limited to a Enderle 110 pump?
Maybe one of you could recite the basic rules: such as same as GN mini's except fuel pump, weight, etc

Jeremy, I know we would have a good time
But we are so out of touch with NTPA mod rules; cage cert., clutches, blankets, blower overdrive, etc.
We will be running Outlaws at Nebraska State Fair at its new location in Grand Island.

As I recall the ITPA was a member state of the NTPA.
I don't recall Onawa, Hinton, Carroll and Boone being region III events, but NTPA Iowa state events.
In those days the NTPA Region mod class rules allowed 2 hemis with 14's or 3 chevys with 8's, but I'm pretty sure we were the first to ever run 3 chevys at Hinton, after the Outlaws allowed 3.
The ITPA left the NTPA and jo

I beleive its supposed to be a Utility 460, which the cockpit is farther forward and the fenders are different. This is what i heard. Where are you IH historians to help clarify this?
I think its really neat, its different because of the 460 with a ton of power and also the fact its a real contender but on diesel in a class that the majority is alky.
