My recommendation - 8 years ago

Try Gordyville, Murfreesboro, or Keystone. I havent been to Cloverdale since the one pull 10 years ago that didnt work out, but it seems to have found it's place.

Re: Perhaps I can help - 8 years ago

Maybe an alternative way of doing what Dick suggests is adopting what NHRA does with their Lucas Oil series. They know top alcohol dragsters and funny cars arent going to make every race. They get points toward their championship at both national and divisional events. They can race at as many as they like, but get points for their best 6 out of 8 events for both national and divisional races.

Re: Throwback Thursday with Eric Prewitt The Godfather - 8 years ago

Thanks Eric. I asked this in the other thread, but could Larry clarify if the restrictor plates are only for multi charger tractor classes? If not, why not be proactive and do the same thing for multi charger SS Diesel Trucks and multi charger Super Semis? Seems logical that those classes could, do, or will at some point have the same issue as the tractor classes. You may set a new record fo

Question: Can someone clarify? - 8 years ago

What is considered a "Super Stock" class for purposes of the restrictor plate rule. Hang with me a second....... Does it only refer to SS Diesel, SS Open, and Light SS tractors? What about multi charger Super Semis or multi charger Super Stock Diesel FWDs? Do Semis and SSD FWD also have to use restrictor plates, or is this only on tractors? If this is for all multi-charger classes, then th

Re: Application link - 8 years ago

QuoteSo So on the nights the tickets cost $40 per seat you get to see four classes and on Friday night tickets are $45 for three classes that doesn't make much sense. The $40 nights tended to be less well attended than the other nights. I could be wrong, but I would also not be surprised if the sessions with 4 classes have 10-12 vehicles per class instead of the customary 15. We'll

Re: NTPA REGION 2 QUESTIONNAIRE - 8 years ago

Pro stock will draw a lot of fans. If you are willing to reach out to the pullers, you should be able to get the 10-12 pullers. There is Harmon, Smith, Ahrens, Stone, Jr. Miller, Walters, Hoffman, John Young, Deppen, Overmeyer if he gets his out next year. Thats 10 right there. There will likely be at least 1 or 2 built or bought in Reg II, plus a bunch more not listed are in Ohio. Plus, if cos

Recommendation to Curious Promotor - 8 years ago

After reading this thread, here is a recommendation. 1) Keep in mind the Saturday after Labor Day in eastern Indiana/western Ohio already has an established HSTPA pull at Lynn, IN (which I believe may have been a Region II pull in the past). For that reason, Light Pros, Heavy Supers, and FWDs are out as those are the classes they typically choose on the exact day you want to have your pull.

Re: Doug, consider this - 8 years ago

Hear hear! Please leave the rules alone. Maybe limit to 16-20 hooks max, with 4 for your "playoff" if you're doing that next year. Or, if a rule is changed, just call it a Heavy SS class and allow your LSS alkies with the 504s run with them. Steve Burge proved at Bowling Green a top DSS can run with a top Unlimited Super which Outlaws doesnt offer. Ulmer and Goodwin heads up vs Wiens,

Re: Why not Pro Stocks? - 8 years ago

Many region pulls run sanctioned NTPA classes first then brush classes. You could schedule 3 classes, 1 being RN minis, then have a non-sanctioned limited mini class afterward. There used to be a Central Indiana mini group, not sure if they are still around. I believe there are mini clubs in OH and MI. Perhaps one of these groups could sanction ( or cosanction) a limited mini class. Doing

Re: Bowling Green Grade - 8 years ago

QuoteKing of beers And to the two track comments I've talked to blue shirts before and they take pride in getting tractors down the track ASAP. They actually time between every hook. Most places arent equipped to run 2 at once but bg is. And with 70 suprr farms and 60 pros and 2wd you have to keep them going. Or they would of been pulling till 4am on saturday night/sunday morning. Bowling

I wish NTPA would fix this - 8 years ago

While we understand the track officials have a lot to think about, one thing that drives me up the wall is when they have both tracks pulling at the same time. I wish they would let the vehicle on one track run before giving the green flag on the other track. It's a tractor pull, not a drag race.

Re: NTPA REGION 2 QUESTIONNAIRE - 8 years ago

Before recommending specific classes, let me ask which weekend of the year would you like to have the pull (assuming its not a midweek event). Nothing happens in a vacuum. Knowing when you would like to have the pull can influence the # of vehicles. Thanks

Tomah 2017 LLSS class - 8 years ago

Just wondering if Tomah will be the first to try this class now that WTPA sanctions it. They may even get some KY tractors to come.

Re: would this work? - 8 years ago

1. Bowling Green has 5 or 6 announcers. 2. In NHRA, they call classes to the staging lanes so they will be ready to go. 3. Using that same idea, would it be possible for a lineup official to communicate with one of the announcers to call pullers to the lanes? For example, in a 50 vehicle class, pull order positions 1 thru 25 could be with their vehicle at the start of the class. At a certain

How PPL accidently helped NTPA - 8 years ago

There's an old saying that a rising tide raises all boats. PPL's change to their PS Diesel FWD class actually improved the NTPA SSD FWD class. Please correct me if this is incorrect, but the prior rule was 3.0 charger. The new PPL rule for their Pro Stock diesels is (I believe) 3.6 charger and the puller tires. This helped NTPA in that several PPL PS trucks have ran in the NTPA S

Re: Is it time to consider merging the Heavy SS classes? - 8 years ago

Low numbers aren't a problem? Take Chizek and Wells out of the Open SS class and there would not be a class. You just made a point for a merger. Chizek may be done with open SS if rumors are correct, though I hope they are not. If there are 4-5 of both Open SS and Diesel SS that precommit to their classes, and by merging there would be 10 precommits, that would be great... IF the die

Re: Is it time to consider merging the Heavy SS classes? - 8 years ago

It is a fact that both NTPA heavy SS classes are down on numbers this year. PPL only has 9 unlimited supers regularly on the Champions tour so they aren't lighting the world on fire either. I'd say there's a real problem that absolutely does exist. 2 years ago John Raymond got 5th in an Open SS hook at BG, and this year Burge was 3rd and 4th in DSS yet would have been easily 2

Eureka! Perfect test case - 8 years ago

Next month at the Enderle, I propose running the DSS and Open SS classes together, with their own separate Enderle purse. That would be a great test, and if by chance the alcohol tractors did dominate, it wouldn't affect the diesels as each class would be pulling for their own separate Enderle purse, iust at the same time with the same sled setting. I honestly think it would be closer tha

Is it time to consider merging the Heavy SS classes? - 8 years ago

Last weekend at BG, in session 1 after the Open SS hook, Steve Burge made a test pass at the same sled setting and would have finished 2nd had he been competing. Blackbourn went 318, Burge went in the neighborhood of 305 to 310. For comparison, Burge was 20 feet behind Ross and finished 3rd in the first DSS hook, and 13 feet behind Ross in the 2nd hook, taking 4th. I believe Jake has said b

BG carnage - 8 years ago

SSO. Silver Bullet Reloaded and Brent Payne both had significant damage. Also hope Bambi and Ride the Lightning can make it back tomorrow. Keener would have been in a great place to make the Sunday show with Lustik and Paynes issues if he would have kept his first hook. Mods- Lively, Koontz, and Feiss may need some wrenching. I knowit normally is a lighter crowd, but with the special event I thought

Evermans - 8 years ago

If anyone from the Everman team reads this: Will your LSS (and maybe Sharon's mod though it would be under powered) compete at Bowling Green, at least on Thursday? I know the ESP hook at Pike is on Friday and Saturday of that week, but it would be great to see your tractors pull there at least once.

Re: Bowling Green and Enderle too? - 9 years ago

I thought Robby said on a Pulling Radio Network show they wanted to run BG. Also, if they go to New Hampton, it stands to reason they may be trying to get into the Enderle for the Region 3/5 spot. Maybe someone could ask them this weekend if they plan to run BG and the Enderle (if they qualify). Because if where I live, it would be great if they tried to do The Fort also.

PPL controversy and questions - 9 years ago

On Fonda's board, there is a thread about PPL Semis that has degenerated into a juvenile hissy-fit (mostly due to one or two people). However, the substance of the topic deserves a hearing. Here's hoping someone can give legitimate answers to legitimate questions. Here are the facts: On May 28 the PPL Semis hooked at a PPL Champions Tour event at Boonesboro, MD. After the class,

The state of motorsports: Which are thriving and which are hurting? - 9 years ago

Indycar? The Indy 500 is a complete sellout including infield. Record crowd expected. That race is thriving better than ever. The rest of the Indycar series? Not so much, though I understand they draw very well on the road courses but tv ratings aren't good. NASCAR? Honestly, I don't follow as closely as I used to except for restrictor plate races. Talladega seemed to have a hug
