I’d be nervous. They x-ray everything. Took a trip a month ago and it was obvious they checked our bag. I think they were checking that our electronics did not have lithium batteries. I’ve had them question my razor in the past, so they do look at them pretty close.

So, all forms? Are you ok with adding a bicycle wheel so the computer can truly control wheel slip? I guess it could be done with gps or radar too…. Lots of options that could get pricey if you don’t put any limits on it.

Cast chassis are legal in all SS classes as far as I know. Also, Outlaw, Xcaliber, and I believe Nebraska Bush each have a cast chassis only LSS class with 30.5 tires, possibly others groups have it too.
Torque is what kills transmissions and rear ends and light weight saves them. Heavy tires will be harder on the driveline. It seems really odd to me that the guys who run the lightest and

How to keep costs down? Start with getting rid of any X by Y, Z inlet, or J outlet turbo rule. Least cost is a spec turbo, everyone runs the same and you only buy a new one if it breaks. No more new turbo every year. There still will be R&D to optimize camshafts, piston bowls, and injectors, but everyone would stop chasing the latest turbo.
2nd option would be a restrictor plate ahead of t

For you, starting with an empty shop, the component might be the cheapest and easiest way to go. The problem is that because the LLSS class is a light class, the component is a competitive advantage because it can be lighter than an OEM chassis. Making components legal leaves current competitors 3 choices. Spend the money / put in the work for a component chassis, settle for mid pack, or park

The turbo should be the airflow limit, not the cylinder head. A big part of the PS and SS problems are related to the unlimited turbo. If you are not going to allow aftermarket heads, you better make sure your tech person knows Cummins heads, there are a bunch already out there. The reality is that aftermarket heads are probably going to flow the same as the reworked OEM heads, just with a lot

Every class with a turbo limit should have a box charger or a restrictor. Rules should ensure that you can run the same turbo for 5 years.

For me it matters why. If you’re trying to bring pullers from 2 organizations together, I’d consider a concession, If it’s a couple pullers that want to change tires and get a weight break to perform better, I’d say no way.

Yes, there was a combine engine that had a bolt on intake. The other option is to mill the side of the head off like the 5.9 Cummins pullers do. I’m not sure about injectors, can the 414 head with electronic injection be modified to accept a screw in or IH style injector?

A 4050 back plate will join the 329/359/414 engine to the 3010 clutch housing. That one may be a little hard to find, I’ve heard that the 4030 back plate works too.
Not sure on your rules, but you may want to consider the 414 crank with the 329 bore. I believe that puts you in a similar CID and would have more of the torque you are going to want with that size turbo. It will be very close

Do you have data to back up that last claim? It doesn’t make sense to me, especially with the 466 having a bigger charger. Show us some HP & torque curves of a top 466 and a top 370.
From the videos I’ve seen tracks in Ky tend to be dry and slick, HP and Torque don’t dominate on that type of track.

I realize it’s early and details aren’t released, but asking for a commitment without details is asking pullers to purchase a cat in a sack, wink, trust us. What exactly is the upside? One puller gets a jackpot funded by their competitors. Fans get to see a bunch of to

For this to work the class has to have numbers AND parity so there are a bunch of them that think they can win. Racing does this with classes like Modified, not the top tier classes that have more limited numbers. IMHO for this to work in pulling it would need to be the state level classes like Klint has at his winter pull, not the GN classes. Most of the GN pullers are like Sno Farmer and kno

They need either spec turbos or an effective restrictor plate ahead of the turbo. The restrictor plate would probably take a couple years to find the best turbo design behind it, but would then have the stability you are looking for without a single source. Either should eliminate the exploding turbo problem we are currently seeing, the restrictor plate would allow old turbos to be used.

I was only clarifying the last statement by LLSS AG Chassis with my comment about rear engine placement based upon the current component chassis rules. Maybe they were suggesting that any LLSS should have to match OEM engine location though, I hadn’t thought of that until now.
I stand by my statement about cutting housings to fit a Profab or Atlasmax, that is getting pretty far from an OEM

East Central Mo and West Central IL had 6200# Limited Pro Stocks going back to the late 80’s, probably earlier. Both limited the turbo to 3.0” and 24.5 tires. CID in Mo was 466 until about 92 when it was dropped to 410 which I’m pretty sure matched Illinois. Gasoline and diesel were legal fuels, gas had to use a draw thru 4 barrel carb. Alcohol as a fuel was not legal.

The component chassis has a set location for the rear of the engine relative to the axle centerline, all are the same no matter what block or hood is mounted to it. Also, many of the ‘Ag chassis’ tractors are cutting the housings to fit the same transmission as the component tractors. The line is getting real blurry.
The component chassis generally allows for more movable weight than an Ag c

The restrictor goes in front of the turbos to limit the air into them. There would be a period of R&D where everyone is trying to figure out which turbos suck the most air through the restrictor, but after that there shouldn’t be a turbo of the month situation like most of the limited turbo classes. I think Europe was going this way with one of their hot farm type classes several years ago, but
