A 640 what? 4.1, 3x3, 3x4, 3LM, GT42, or ??? The engine is a system that includes the turbo, cylinder head, cam, valve bowls, bore & stroke, and injection pump & injectors.
What does your head porter say, or are you looking for the vendor to supply it ready to run? Talk to them and get into the theory of why theirs is better, then you have to decide which one to follow. If you truly want t

I don’t think you have the correct stroke for an 8.1, I’m pretty sure it’s 5.0 too.
Agree that 414/6.8 doesn’t have enough bore spacing for 4.75.

I'd like to consider myself a traditionalist or purist, but as someone who has been at this for over 30 years I can see how we have boiled the frog with little 'improvements' over the years to where now we have 'funny tractors' in many classes. Most component tractors don't have a single part that came from any factory, more or less the factory of the brand of tract

So what is the strategy? Loose track take out some timing to keep from overreving the engine? Why not go up a gear?

I’ve been at this long enough to remember when our group first allowed P pumps. The argument was that it put everyone on a level playing field ( had to run stock series pump before that so some were running rotary and some A pumps) which was true, but also that the P pump put out more stock than they could burn with our 3x4 turbo limit. Now the P’s are using huge plungers and big cams with that

It isn’t just about volume, injection time is important too. The larger cam diameter in the Sigma allows for quicker injection times.

I read a book called Mortal Error. The author was an expert firearms witness and he studied the evidence including the film and autopsy photos closely. He believed that the final, mortal head shot was accidental from the Secret Service car behind the limo. After Oswald fired the first shots both cars accelerated and he believed this along with the confusion caused one of them to accidentally d

I imagine it’s very subtle. A plug gauge / slug would hit on the insides of the shape, allowing it to pass that kind of tech check.

What and exactly where is the ‘inducer bore’? Does this mean no taper either in addition to trying to eliminate the cloverleaf shape? How far does it have to stay straight? All the way to the end of the housing?

I like that. You would run the classes that can turn around the quickest at the end. Also makes the pulloff like a new class, the track could be significantly different than the first run. At a 2 track venue the pulloff could even be on the other track, rewarding the puller that can read the track and adapt.

Yes, I mostly agree with you. There are serious fans who know the ins and outs. There are gearheads from other motorsports who are impressed by the technology and horsepower, even of they can’t tell a super farm from a limited pro. But the vast majority of the butts in the seats are there to be entertained. That needs to be job #1

On a rigid frame tractor that pivots around the rear axle, statics and dynamics say the only thing that matters forward of the hitch point is that the system be rigid. If there is any black magic in a hitch it has to be in the interaction between the hook and the hitch. Search on here and you will find a post by Doug Roberts about things they did on the alky Barnyard Beast, but science doesn’t

Actually it’s very easy to tech. Machine a 3.4” hole in a 1/8” thick plate. If the wheel isn’t flush or through the hole in the plate it’s illegal.
If the housing bore is tapered leading into the face of the wheel, how do you propose checking the bore? Especially verifying the 1/8” wheel protrusion into the 3.4” bore?

If you are hitting 60 on the intake side you are likely higher on the exhaust side. Also, how much line length do you have between the manifold and gauge? Heat could be killing it too.

The difference is that if in 2025 they do away with Income Tax and replace with a 30% sales tax, both money from your Roth that is supposed to be tax free and money from your traditional IRA will be withdrawn tax free, but both will be taxed when you spend it. Big advantage for the traditional.
Taking it to an extreme, if I retire and have all of my money in a Roth, under the current system I

The original setup was a Crower Chevy lifter with buttons in the side to keep it from rotating. SBJD lifter diameter is .680” and the Chevy lifter is .842”. You can use a series of reamers to enlarge the bores and Crower sold a tool that goes into the lifter bore to pilot a drill bit that creates the slot.
I think GMS and probably others are offering similar lifters now too. No clue if they

It’s not how the Roth is invested, it’s what happens when you retire and start pulling money from the Roth. Under the current tax system withdrawals, both principle and earnings are free from income tax. If there is no income tax, and simply a consumption tax you lose the benefit of the Roth. This can be offset if they give a consumption tax rebate on Roth withdrawals. If this talk gets more

Agreed. The rod to stroke ratio on most diesels is pretty favorable from the factory. For example, the ratio for an 8.75” rod and 5” stroke is a bit longer than a 350 Chevy with 6” rods.

I’m not much of a gambler, but I am intrigued how this will play out. I have to think the betting will only be on select members of each class. For example, possibly only the pre committed NTPA pullers. They may need PPL and Outlaw to start similar pre-entry commitment programs. I don’t see how they would be able to set odds on 50+ Twd’s at BG and manage their risk, or the classes of the many
