There apparently is no limit to what people will try to gamble on:
If you don't want to click the link, the WWE is trying to legalize gambling on their scripted pro wrestling matches.
I'm betting our society doesn't survive but another decade or so.

They won't take away everything to entertain and distract the population, the population must have their "bread and circuses." The fuel spent on traveling from major league stick and ball sports, NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA sports, etc. the teams and the fans, dwarf whatever amount tractor pulling spends on fuel. We saw a tiny example of that in 2020, with things getting cancelled. If the average

If you think most fairs are going to put up a dirt track caliber fence in front of their grandstand, you're crazy. It ain't happening. I saw a front wheel bounce 25 feet in the air some years ago at Henry. I don't know about rear wheels, but containing front wheels is existing technology that's pretty simple. Fix the problem at the source.

Do the 4.1 guys really want to be a National class? They can already pull just about 7 days a week somewhere in the summer if they want to.

If this link works, you can see Logan Thomas' sled already has a light facing downwards from the tube they put the laser reflector on. Looks like a good idea. Even if the track is too dark to see the cone, they can still see to hook up.

There were 4 mods last year and 10 2WD trucks with a regular purse I think. So there may not be many mods, but I bet there will be plenty of trucks. Unless you're in the points chase, why wouldn't you take a shot at 5 grand for one hook? Does the points championship even pay that?

The man tries to put on a big brand new 3 day event, and at the start of day number 2, you guys are picking it apart. That's what I find unbelievable. And I shouldn't, I should know people better by now and expect the worst, but it still surprises me.
I'm assuming from your comments that you weren't there. So your analogy is flawed. A more accurate one would be you walk

Some of you guys are unbelievable. I hope Mr. Bader is smart enough not to come here and read what the "experts" are saying about his first try at putting on a major league pulling event. And that he puts it on again next year.

At our Friday July 1st ITPA tractor pull, the Schuyler County Fair is raffling this 1/16 scale replica of “Force-N-It”, a John Deere 4455 Pro Farm tractor built and driven by Mark Roberts of Timewell, IL. It is the two-time defending 9500# ITPA Pro Farm points Champion. Mark was the 2021 ITPA Stock Puller of the Year, and was the class winner right here at our pull last year.

Dirt track racing also has a greater chance of wrecks than pulling, thus being more dangerous.
The average person nowadays can relate better to a racecar than a tractor.
Pulling only has one vehicle on the track at a time, so the pace is slower.
Those are the differences I see, but I don't know how you ever change those 3 things.

Nice lists. A follow up question (but much more difficult to answer) is how many hooks do these pros make in an average year? Unless there is some secret series I don't know about, my guess is not too many.

Yes and let's not forget that drag racing doesn't award anything for speed, it's just elapsed time that matters there. All the scoreboard tells is how hard the car is running at the finish line.

I do believe there should be extra money for competitors that have to run twice (including sled resets... but excluding mechanical drops) and I'm sure a system could be put in place to cover those extra expenses.
I'll always be a fan of pulloff's and I think they should always remain part of the sport at all levels, there's no other time where fans are on

Tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $20. All proceeds go to the Hope Blooms organization which assists people fighting cancer in Schuyler and surrounding counties with travel expenses for getting to treatments, medical

I think Illinois will have a lot more fairs this year, although the earlier ones could still face some problems. A certain state agency (although not the one you'd think) is throwing up some hurdles for us. Our sponsors have been very supportive, I think people are really over being treated like peasants when so many of these "rules" defy logic and common sense.

Clark for someone who doesn't run in the class you sure have a bad opinion of the llss class, one of them must have beat you - just lost all respect for you !!!
I dont think that means too much coming from someone who won't sign their name.

Almost like this whole thing since last spring was a coordinated attack on our social norms, our culture and traditions. Even if we get over this virus, what happens next flu season, does everything get shut down again since the general public is now conditioned for that response? Are our enemies taking notes on how we've responded to this and how to use it to their advantage either before

Sorry, I was being sarcastic.
One of our biggest problems right now is getting people to take tickets and park cars. We gave up for 2020 and hired a professional group to take tickets. You run out of local civics clubs and athletic/band parents and kids that are willing to do things like that.
There are also plenty of details like where to borrow a water truck, a road grader, equipment

Excellent idea. Any sanctioning body is welcome to rent our fairgrounds and we can sit back and have them show us how it's done.

Not full payback if you place? That's weird. Doesn't their prize money come from the fair or event promoter? Why would it matter to them whether a tractor is a full time member or a per day member? Where's the money go that's kept back?

We need to use common sense and continue to monitor the data and find ways to get some portions of our society running again.
If we continue this lock-down we'll have a revolt, and we'll have people dying because we've collapsed everything or we'll have marshal law to deal with the protesters.
If we simply reopen everything we'll allow this to sprea

Maybe its just the perspective that I look at it from, but I think the decision to cancel or go on lies with the promoters and the owners of the venues where the events are happening, not the sanctioning bodies. Because the situation may be very different for different locations in the next month or two, and to say that we're going to cancel everything for a month, or we're having ever
