Been there and done it. Depending on weight may only need 600 ho. You will take the teeth off 8th. Did it twice in a month before I put a atlas 3 speed in.

buy a swartz wide. throw center section away. weld the outer together. had a little brace and your all set. also lots of other thing you could do to remove weight. mine weight 6000

Started with my dads 4430. 100% stock right off the farm drove to the local blacktop pull, I was 13 . Got to pull a couple years and the they quite having pull. That was about 1985. I didn't pull any more for several years. Then in about 2000 I had a friend tell me i should pull my 4010, i did and since then and 4 pulling tractors i pull alot. 32 pulls last year. Have grooves cut in head just as good a cut sleeves. At least close to it. I have done and then run copper head gasket. I use Clark's cooper gaskets in MN.

Looking for options for 7.5 gear for jd 4430 quad. My current trans is broke. I broke hi pinion gear and sheared input off. Looking for option for stronger and add 7.5 gear. I can't put in a 3 speed cause I run a range of pace classes and no pace.

Best I can figure only the 1961 models. Most where on gas models. So many have been switched around by now. But you can tell by looking. Light ones are thinner where bolt to rear end. Also have different casting number.

Don't have many results but was a great day pulling. 9000 and 9500 farm NA where both won by Dave Clark, Clyd got 2nd in 9500 and guy from platville got 2nd in 9000 in the 9000 THTF 16MPH pace 1st was bill bahl and second was dave clark. There was lots of good pulling.
