Wow, apparently you have an axe to grind and some homework to do. no one died that I am aware of and I am not the spokesperson. I am just volunteering to help set some guidelines that will make the pull more fun for everyone. If it was not solicited, I would not be offering. Some folks prefer to complain anonymously after they get beat, and stop going with some lame excuse to cover the real

it would be great to have you down this way. the website will be updated sometine during the next few months once the rules are decided and dates set. steelcitypullers.com right now we have an altered class which kind of covers everything outside the 3000 rpm classes.

there is no difference in ratio that I am aware of. the two speed will allow you to slow down whatever gear you are in by approximatley 27.5 percent.

wow. that is gettin it down the track. we are just approaching road gear. Are you running road gear with torque out and 1-3 over and finishing like that at a 3000 rpm limit?

good point. I think that your point makes a good arguement for having two classes. a 466 or 505 class with 3lm and a second class at 600 with say a hx50 or a 3x3. that way most bases are covered. I know there will always be someone bitc*ing about something but try to get reasonable rules and I think most will follow along ok. There seems to be a significant number of Hot tractors that fit in

coincidentally, we actually recommended two classes nearly identical to what you suggest. the reason being that our class we run now has basic entry tractors in it with 3lm's and no cuts and they compete against tractors with larger cubes, up to and including a 3x3 chargers. so we wanted to break it out some to let more people compete. we are trying to get it right but have to take into a

I like the rules too. gives all us "hot farm stock" pullers a place to pull and a relatively even playing field. the 600 cubes, 3x3 charger are probably more than most guys will have or use but that keeps folks from complaining, and the 3000 rpm keeps them tamed down some to be safer. I've always had the 4430.... keep beating my head against those IH guys, someday I will get out there

thanks for the info. Our rules may turn out pretty similar. My tractor would run nice in your class (4430).

sounds like you guys have been down the road already. I looked over the rest of the rules on your site. they look pretty good to me. I like the throttle stop screw rule. So, I see if you are 3000 rpm or under you do not need a dead man throttle?

does the "3000 rpm when pulling" mean you can come out over 3000 and go over 3000 when you clutch but not during the pull?

I like those rules. Charger is a little small but Ok I guess if everyone is running it. These rules are very similar to what we are looking at.

I guess we will see how things fall in place. I was just wondering if any other clubs have a class similar to 600 ci, 3000 rpm and 3x3 charger. Big point of contention seems to be the style pump allowed. I say what is good for one is good for all, regardless of how it came from factory. A tractor still looks pretty stock even if you run a different pump and hard for roosamaster guys to keep up

we originally wanted a 466 cube , 3lm, 3000 rpm class but so many tractors are beyond that already. trying to keep class affordable and very open to let most folks pull within reason.

those are a good set of rules, except no rpm limit requires all safety gear and sfi clutch. and it limits to the A pump. trying to keep costs down and rpm down. I am going to go check them out In March at Keystone. One big concern is how to police the class. how do they check cubes?

we discussed 505 cube area to get the cases in, but one of the big issues is who has already built a big cube motor since we do not check them yet. So, our thought was make it big enough that no one would really have a complaint because likely they were less than 600 anyhow. and like I said we have a couple 600's and a 570 etc already. Our thoughts are the 3000 is a nice safer rpm and sou

no particular reason. we just figured 600 was more affordable and would cover most hot stock type tractors. we have several tractors in the club/area up to 600 but none over that we know of and we don't check cubes anyway. we were thinking of unlimited cubes in the 12,500 classes and above to make a spot for big cube 6030's

you will need to put valve reliefs in the pistons with a bigger cam and should fire ring it and stitch weld the crank and cam gears to their shafts in not straight cut

I run 4240 pistons with a 55 head. It will work well for you, especially with a good charger. You lose some compression with the 55 head. there are about 25 cc's in the head. So, you go from a normal compression of 17.1:1 on a 4240 down to about 14.5:1 which is a nice number. With 34-35 degrees of timing in the 3000 rpm class you will run well, stay cool and start easy. I never have a
