How much hp/torque can a stock 4010 transmission hold? I am curious on how long I have before I need a three speed. This is on a 3000 rpm tractor. Thanks |

Does anyone run the stock tranny or do you do straight to the three speed? |

You can run the stock tranny but depend on the horsepower you run. Most people the the 3 speed cause of the gear ratio. Going from 7th to 8th is a big difference. |

If you have to run 6th I'd give it 50/50 on the low range pinion holding up. If you're running 5th, 7th, or 8th where you're using the high range pinion you should be fine. Putting another ratio in to replace 5th and/or 8th can be done much more reasonably than a complete 3 speed if you're on a budget. |

It is surprising how much they will take. We used to run bout 600hp thru ours. The thing that hurts it is when the tractor gets squirrly and ya lift up a back wheel and crunch! There goes some gears! If ya can keep the back tires on the ground it will hold for a long time. |
