There is an oem back plate for the ih 312 engine that bolts a 300 or 400 series engine in they were used to bolt the 312 in a 656 666 or 686. If running factory frame rails you will also need them. Otherwise Floyd isabell makes them. |

466 will bolt up to most any IH with the correct adapter plate. Keep in mind that a 460, 656-686 will all use the smaller clutch than say an M, 560, and 706 on up. Using the smaller tractor will require a real fancy clutch to make it hold, even if you are running under 3000 rpm. |

A 706 has a bigger bellhousing so you would need a back plate for a 766 up |

I put a 466 in a 706 , used a set of 1066 rails, you need to leave part of the orginal frame on the nose to slide inside of the 1066 rails.drilled holes for the nose to bolt on. used a front and rear plate from a 414 went to gether fine no adatper plate
work out radiator hoses, cut the fan and fan shroud, lenghten oil cooler lines, power streeing lines, cut the fuel tank, You might as well up grade to a dual disk clutch to hold the power single disk wont take it . if you run a bigger injection pump, lines, and injectors. |
