Turbo for a 4840 and HX35 Question? May 21, 2012 01:49AM
Guys, not exactly a pulling question, but more of an upgrade questions..
Two different tractors..

4840.. The orginal turbo needs to be replaced, and we are rebuilding the engine. This tractor will not be used for tractor pulling just field work.. I know there are more efficient turbos out there... but is there something that will bolt on and fit the factory intercooler? (and exhaust.. or easily connected to the factory exhaust elbow)

How big of an exhausting to use on a HX35 used on a 404 or 466, for field use.. I have a handfull of exhaust housing.. 12cm W, 16, 18, 21.. (I know there are lots of variables to add to this.. but just trying to get an idea) 404 would probably be a rotary pump...
Thanks
Bryan

I put a 3lm 33 on my 4840 and it dropped my egt by 200 degrees. It runs really good, but I also had my pump and injectors done at the same time. Everything bolted right up.

Thank you very much... I knew many were using the 3lM turbos... I just didn't know if they were a drop in replacement... If it didn't have an intercooler, it would be easier to put any turbo on there...
