Diesels at 479ci and 3x3 turbo won't be competive at all . Maybe with 3.6 turbo or with 3x4 and intercooler. At least a 3x4 will put them within 20 feet. Maybe

USA-EAST adopted these rules last night at our annual rules meeting. The goal is to offer four to six hooks in 2013 in NE Ohio and NW Pennsylvania. We will work directly with the WNYPFP in order to assure that no events are over lapped on their existing dates. We will need some of the New York LLSS tractors to participate in these 'first year' pulls in order to get the class going.

I really wish you guys would re-think the weight, I undterstand that you think more weight is going to help the smokers, BUT its also going to lock the alky tractors to the ground harder (more RPM more speed) 6000 or 6200lb MAX can be done with any color or brand. The boys in KY have AC D21 and a case 504 down under 6000lb. No need to do what the guys in TN are trying to do now and go from 6500 now to 6200 and trying to get it to 6000lb. There is NO reason a LLSS should run more weight then a LSS. I love the class and am glad to see it grow into what it is but look at whats working and run with it.

I agree on the weight. More weight helps the tractors that make more power, lighter evens the field between fuels & makes it a drivers class.

We don't pull in this class, but just an opinion, that I think the weight is also too heavy for what cubes and turbo they are running. Back in 99 or 2000 at Tomah, our first hook with our new LSS we weighed 5465 lbs with a 200 lb driver, 3 bar cage, 3 turbos, 5 - Speed Pro-Fab trans, 3208 cat, and an 1800 rear with fake Oliver size planetary housings.

Just don't see any reason to have it at 6500....I think you will have a better show at 6000 lbs and if you need to even it up a little, you just add some weight for those that need it etc.

Rules look like that will be about to get tractor from north and south, just wish it would have been 6000 or 6200MAX. All brands can make it to 6000lbs with some work. And at some point the HP or Puller 2000 Tires will have to be let in, Tires are hard enough to find as it is.

My thought on the weight issue is that at some point in time, it may become necessary for one or more combination of tractors to have to give up some weight in the name of competitiveness.

Not sure on this one, but I believe SFI specs. have a 10% tolerance which would allow the 2 bar cage to be approved up to 6,600 pounds.

WITH 3 IN 479 RULE THERE'S NO NEED FOR DIESEL 'S TO THINK ABOUT PULLING WITH YOU . JUST GO WATCH THE 370 ALKY DOMINATE THE CLASS IN KY.
NEED TO OPEN CHARGER SIZE UP SO DIESELS CAN COMPETE

Western New York points champ 466 with a 3x3. This class is 6500lb diesels will do fine with a 3x3 and the extra weight.

This is what we are doing for now, bring your tractor and come play. As things progess we will see how it goes we will adjust if need be, Tracks up here are mostly clay power tracks as well, not to many dry dirt tracks that will give the diesels a little edge.

Diesel guys will do just fine, especially at 6,500 pounds. There are three diesel guys in Kentucky, Lil Insane, American Beauty, and Unbridled that are in the top 5 pretty consistently. They obviously have done there homework. Also there is a bunch of diesels in Wisconsin and some in Michigan that can hold there own as well. In Kentucky there is 10 alky tractors to 1 diesel, which makes it look like it is dominated by alcohol.
Have you seen results from Gordyville last year? Diesel guys do extremely well. It all comes down to doing your homework, and most of the Alky guys in Kentucky have done there's.
"Killing Diesels", if you do not like the alky guys head up to Wisconsin and pull with the Badger guys where it is Diesel only.

all i want is a level playing field. I've seen the three your talking abut and know 2 of the 3 well . and have never put my tractor in that class . 3" charger on a diesel is not competive.
not going to drive from southern Ohio to NY or Wis. to run LLSS

Hey "killing diesel" you just had three people tell you that you can be competitive, so maybe if you don't like it you could build your tractor to pull in one of the other two dozen diesel only that exist. Some of us are tired of diesel only, frankly if the whole class is alcohol thats fine with me, you have TONS of places to pull stop crying.

This class works alot better if you have both fuels. Im an alcohol guy and tend to agree with him. You're gonna wanna give the diesels an a little help in the beginning. Its not really about any advantage. Its about preventing the perception that a diesel cant compete to get started. We've saw plenty of that in the 90's in every SS class, in the LSS and Unlimited SS class. Developing more power in an alkyburner would be cheaper anyways. Let the diesel guys start out in front and as everyone gets more serious, the better competitors will find their way to the front regardless of fuel. The 3" inlet on the turbo keeps things plenty even anyhow. I would just suggest going to 480 on diesel with a 3in 4out turbo. Who does that let in? Ford 474, Hercules 478 and maybe you'll get some Deere's to build a 4 5/8" bore x 4.75" stroke (478) or an AC 426 with 8.3L Cummins sleeves and pistons (477) which is some variations other places are missing and would be great to see on the track. The idea is to make it easier to get tractors there, not send them home. The guys that put together these rules are doing great and Im lookin forward to seeing how this class turns out and grows.

Yes we are making progress. Full Pull Productions has adopted the Class, as well as Northwest Pa Pullers..
we currently have 8-10 pulls in the works for scheduling right now.
