Methonol Fuel tank metal March 01, 2013 12:03PM
Does it need to be stainless? or can it be mild steel?

I would NEVER use steel for an alky tank. If not stainless, a good grade of aluminum. I would seriously consider stainless. Just my opinion.

I would never use aluminum for methonol, stainless or plastic only. All aluminum fittings need to be anodized to stop from corrosion.

We have never had any problem with any of our aluminum fuel tanks. I agree a steel tank is not a good idea.

You can use aluminum, but it's a good idea to drain all the Methanol out after a race/pull day. The methanol will eat the aluminum, and you end up with aluminum bits plugging fuel filters. Plastic is best.
