A profab will work. A stock transmission can be made to work also. solid input shaft ,1/2 gears in the back. A new solid mainshaft with changeable ,custom ratio 3rd gear set and a billet front cover.

Im puting a ford 4000, where can I get a good input shaft and trans parts for pulling?

Re: Ford trans for llss July 27, 2014 08:06AM
Atlas tractor has a few of them out and running and had a few more ford housings in the shop getting ready to drop in a tranny. Give Karl a call I bet you will get it faster than calling Larry.

Just out of curiosity what engine do you plan on using? I couldn't tell you how well a 5000 will do in pulling but from the experience my family had farming with one it will be an experience.

I'm planning on using a 401 turbo with a p pump etc somewhere around 5-600 hp

Re: Ford trans for llss August 07, 2014 11:04PM
If you want to be competitive you better double that hp.

Closer to triple that figure. and yes the stock transmission will hold up
