Can anyone help me out? Iv been told you can put a Profab transmission in a ford 4000 housing. Wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on how to make it fit inside there.

Call Puller MX and buy his stuff on the for sale page. That will save time and money and at the end of the day and have spare parts.

factory 8 speed is 15.75-1.
sos is 30/1

Pro Fab and SCS don't put the transmission in your housing. You have to cut and grind to mount it. Takes alot of time to figure out and make it work.

How much HP will a stock 4000 transmission handle? If you go straight though with a reverse box what ratio will that be? Where do you het the reverse box and couplers?

I believe the above post is correct. The select-o-speed is terribly slow, and the 8 speed is a bit fast.

I think the rear will take it, but the trans is too small. The input shaft is very small in diameter, plus, if my memory serves me right, its hollow to allow a pto drive to go through the center of it. Maybe someone can help me with my memory on that.

The 5000 shaft is hollow and the 4000 is solid but very small.

If you put a straight through box with reverser, your ratio on a Ford 4000 would be 15.75 to 1. Have heard of guys running a Ford 5000 ring and pinion 5.26 to 1 which would give you 23.67 to 1. Only bad thing is the gear set runs on back side of teeth. Was told a Ford 4000 with a Pro Fab or SCS gear box would handle 1800 HP . Not really sure if this is true or not.
