Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 05, 2015 12:42PM
What's the rules for farm classes?

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 06, 2015 02:11PM
Looks like tires and speed to me. But I would say Rpms are limited. As to what not sure. 3000 without safety equipment. 3500 with all appropriate safety equipment. Just a guess. open might be all you got and hope it's enough

Would love to see show start early Saturday and have a mph class or two in there...let us know

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 10, 2015 11:07AM
sat 7pm start time to allow for addition of 11500 12mph and 11500 open. both classes 20.8 tire 3000rpm

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 15, 2015 08:02AM
Well this pull sucked.

NO RUELS. No one checking weight. No on checking hitch height. No RPM limit. Speed limit only on some tractor. The only thing they checked was if you paid your $30 entry fee. No one to line up tractors. No list of tractor order.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 15, 2015 12:10PM
The order was there behind sled like always. That's all I can attest to. The rest I am sorry about. Don't know who was in charge of what. May be last time we have a brush pull. I think we will just call it test and tune open. Then there is nothing to do but take money and watch. Way less stress don't need much help. It's tuff to do when everyone doubts there will be a pull cause of rain and circumstances. But your disappointment will be noted and better structure will be in place for future.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 01:06AM
I appreciate the efforts of the all folks who tried to get the track in shape and have a show on Saturday.

Given the weather this year, pulls are few and far between.

There are some things that were less than ideal, but the effort was made, there was a show (even with rain in the forecast) and good turnout.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 04:12AM
I've been reading all the post and just want to comment on some things. Being a puller, you always enjoy when a pull is going on that you can attend. I understand the rain and confusion that could happen because of rescheduling but one of the recent posts said the 11500 mph and 11500 open would be 3000 rpm and 20.8 tire limit. Not sure who is in charge of this, but hitchpin posted this and that was far from the case. There was 1 that had 24.5 tires in the open and several running over 3000 rpm. When things are posted for rules, you hope those rules are followed. In this case they were not. There was no one checking hitch height or watching weigh in. I love this pull but have some concerns if this is how its going to be in the future.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 06:00AM
My sentiments exactly Concerned Puller.

We were signed up for the 11500 open and when we saw pro farm/hot farm tractors in that class that didn't meet the criteria that had been posted, we decided not to make a pass. Nothing against those that chose to run given those circumstances, but I was not going to.

It is what it is, and not bashing any of the folks that help put that pull on. They worked hard to make it happen.

There was just some communication issues that need to be addressed in the future.

Tipton has a long history of having great pulls, and hopefully they can continue that tradition in the future.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 04:24PM
Well for one boys there was no rpm limit nothing was even said bout what rpms had to be and besides that they didn't have a box to check..... like they told me open is open an yes they did check weight an hitch hight maybe you should go to north salem "fleece" to there open farm Class an see what runs cause you'll be socked only thing they say there is weight hitch an tire size. There's a difference between open farm an farm stock

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 07:15PM
First and foremost, I am not hatin' on profarm or hot farm guys...

The issue is some folks got told 3000 rpm, no cut tires, and 20.8 tires in the 11500 open class and some didn't.

I don't know how that happened, and at this point I don't really care....what's done is done.

If the pro farm/hot farm guys wanted to run the 9500/13000 open, I would have been ok with that, because in the original ad there were no limits in those classes.

I would have been ok with running the 9500 and the 1300 open close together (maybe a class or two in between) so you guys could have had time to run, cool off, run again, stay, watch whatever.

I wouldn't even care if the hot farm guys wanted to back it off to 3000 rpm for the 11500 open classes. Maybe some did...I don't know.

(There was at least one guy in the mph class that wasn't even close to 3000 rpm, so whatever...)

But I was told verbally no cut tires and AND ON THIS VERY THREAD ABOVE it was 3000 rpm and 20.8 tires in the 11500 classes. And it wasn't.

Not worried about the hitch height, weight, and rpm....as competitors, we should be honest in checking our stuff if no one is around. If you can go home and sleep with cheating on those things, then good for you. For the record, I went across the scales twice-once before the pull and once after it started and no one was there to check weight or hitch height. RPM was checked before I left the house. Anybody that ever wants to check my rpm, weight, or hitch height-feel free...but when we are done checking mine, we are going over to check yours, too.

(As for the Fleece pull, I would love to pull there, but could tell I had no business there a long time ago....lol.)

But if there are rules for a class, then everyone should abide by them. If some people got told one thing and some got told something else, then that is an entirely different thing.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 10:47PM
your concerns are heard. and thank you for coming. future events things will be handled differently. your right about enforcement. i myself think open is open and would not put any restrictions i could not or would not enforce. but i posted what i was told thinking it would be. tires weight and hitch are my big three. assuming open rpm tractors have steel clutch and flywheel. which btw sucks to assume.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 16, 2015 11:21PM
"Sat 7pm start time to allow for addition of 11500 12mph and 11500 open. both classes 20.8 tire 3000rpm" from above post by hitchpin.

I read it as OPEN SPEED/3000 RPM. A profarm/hot farm guy who doesn't run mph classes might just see the open and think rpm, which is fine.

I'm not trying to beat this to death. I am trying to see it from everyone's perspective, and I hope they see it from mine.

There were some good tractors that left because of what happened, and there isn't any need in that.....

To hitchpin: thanks for taking time to read and hopefully make changes to clarify for the future. I am not bashing the Tipton pull. I have a lot of good memories from there in the past and hopefully will it will continue to be a good pull in the future...

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 17, 2015 06:35AM
Thanks for looking out for my best interests.

It wouldn't be my first butt whooping, and it won't be my last.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 17, 2015 10:14AM
We pulled at tipton. I believe the confusion was with the addition of the 11500 classes that were what a lot of us thought were FS classes advertised for Friday. Oh well, we pulled and had fun. Could things have been done differently, sure but there is always woulda, coulda, shoulda stuff. I do want to commend the tipton crew for the work they did in the conditions they had. As far as the comment about the Fleece pull we pulled there last year with a 4230 against those guys had fun watched a heck of a show and did NOT get last hahaha.

Re: 2015 4-H Pull - Tipton Indiana July 18, 2015 12:30AM
I went across the scales 4 times and NEVER saw anybody there. There was NOBODY there to measure your hitch.
I think it's time to rid of the people running the pull and replace them with people that are willing to make it a good pull.
