AC190xt Advice Needed September 16, 2016 03:08AM
Looking for some advice from those of you out there. We have an AC 190xt that has been pulled as a LLSS at around #6200 in the midwest. We are from the northern Missouri/southern Iowa area. We are currently running at about 342 cubic inches and a single turbo, p-pump smoker. We are pretty much stock frame, NTPA cage and such.

With this information, would like to know what some of you would do? We are kind of at a crossroads as to what we want to do. We are on a limited budget, so we aren't changing to a 3 charger alky or a 4 charger smoker. Looking for some honest feedback, looking to get back to the pulling and having fun again in the summer. Appreciate your time and input to answer our question.

I would put a 426 in get it to 466- 470 cubes. MATTPA is trying to get a light limited class started down that direction. ( are you the ones pulling in it now?) looks like there could 2-3 more built for next year.

You will have to go one of the ways you mentioned that you said you wouldn't do unless you just like being there

Orange Peel - Where are you located? We would love to add another tractor. We are still trying to get this class started. Using rule that are pretty consistent with the rest of the country (with the link that Nick provided above you can find our rules). Rules meeting 11/05/16 if you're interested. Currently we have one guy with an AC 301 (I think) with twin chargers. I am build a Deere (still undecided on Alky or Smoke). Both of us are in SW IA. There are a couple others getting rumored to being built. Look me up on Facebook or my contact info is below if I can be of any help.

In eastern Iowa they started a box charger, 7500 pound, 360 cubic inch class several years ago. We tweaked the rules to a box S300 and a 3500 rpm limit. Which even a couple stock motors hung in there pretty decent with the built one's. We used this class as a stepping stone class for our LLSS, and we're leaving the rules alone so if they choose to go blow there wad they can drop eight hundred pounds and do so.

Re: AC190xt Advice Needed September 19, 2016 03:27PM
The 426 should be a serious thought. The 301 block works but requires substancal maintenance, the head can be made to work 4-5000$, but still doesn't hold up long term if you are getting max power out of it. There just more to the 426 and you get 6 ports makes tuning easier. Be glad to help with what not to do too! Lol
