Specs On New 20.8X38 Pro Puller Tire November 30, 2016 02:46PM
As hard as it is to find 20.8X38 tires that really work, and won't break the bank, we are in the process of finalizing the design and mold for the new 20.8X38 10 ply Pro Puller Tires, and want to know the optimum specs that those who use that size, would like to see.
These will look just like the 24.5X32 Pro Pullers that we have pictured on our web site (propullertires.com), but be in the 20.8X38 10 ply size.

According to the pullers and cutters we have consulted with, they would like to see approximately a 21.5" wide bar width from shoulder to shoulder, and a circumference of somewhere in the 225" range. We are looking at a bar depth of 1/2".
Also, what rim width would you suggest? (we are thinking 22"). What weight would be ideal?

We want to make sure the tire will conform to the rules that your association has set for cut 20.8X38 10 ply tires.

The tire will have all of the bars to the outside edge of the tire, unlike the double cut tires that are in the market today (where every other lug is pulled in by 2-3"). This will provide about 20% more contact area than the Radial Deep Treads that are being used on a lot of pulling tractors.

We will debut the tire at our booth at Louisville, but want some direction on what specs you would like to see on the tire. We are ready to build the mold, and have several sets ordered from cutters and pullers already before the tire is even built.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Sounds like a great tire! Sure would like to have a set to run at Gordyville and Murfreesboro this winter.

They won't be ready by then, but they will be by spring.
What are you running now, and what would be the best circumference for you?

Re: New 20.8 December 01, 2016 12:34AM
Never had any issues with circumference in any of the classes we pull in that require 20.8x38 just as long as it says 20.8x38 on the side. I am running a set of 10 ply radial double cuts and was gonna go to a set of Firestone deep treads for the indoor pulls this winter. Luke Miller was telling me about these tires you are coming out with so I will wait for them. Mark me down for a set and if you have any questions about anything give me a call. Thanks for the 20.8 order James. I will keep you in the loop as we get closer.

We will be at Gordyville with a booth and 24.5 and 30.5 tires to see.

There will be several tractors there at Gordyville running the Pro Pullers.

Are there any plans in the future for a tire for the mini-rod guys??

Stacy....yep!

We are getting much closer to having the 24.5X32 and 30.5X32's where we need them, so we are now working on the 20.8X38's at this time.

I believe you are looking for an 18.4X16.1. We are thinking we may produce them in the future, but at this point we want to get our arms around the 3 sizes that we are currently working on before delving into any more sizes.

Thanks for the comment and interest though.

Yes, that is the 18.4x16.1 tires. There are a lot of minis out there!! Thanks, hope to be a future customer. Stacy Butson.

How about 18.4x38 Pro Pullers lots classes with this size ?

Re: Specs On New 20.8X38 Pro Puller Tire December 01, 2016 05:19AM
Once we get the 3 sizes to be the tire we want them to be, we will look at other sizes.

I'm not sure what the demand is for the 18.4X38 in a double cut tire, and if that size is legal to be ran in a double cut design.

If there is a market, we will sure look at doing it.

Thanks for the comment and interest!

What is the price?

Re: Specs On New 20.8X38 Pro Puller Tire December 01, 2016 06:56AM
The 20.8X38 price is posted on our website (propullertires.com) at $4,000 for the pair, and can be bought through us, or the cutter of your choice.

I thought PPL had a 220" circumference rule. Will have to dig it out.

Re: Specs On New 20.8X38 Pro Puller Tire December 01, 2016 09:39AM
Please see what you can find. I am not aware of any PPL rules stating that, but if there is, it would be good to know.

There are a ton of the 20.8R38 BFG Power Saver HT Radials out there that are 228-230" that haven't been disqualified, so if anyone sees a problem with any circumference issues, let me know.

We know that if they are too tall, the hitch angle will be changed, as well as gears etc etc.
