John Deere 44xx Clutch question April 22, 2017 02:22AM
Have tractor split for clutch update and pto delete. Removed entire pto except the clutch stub shaft the traction drive shaft runs in. Removed pto brake piston and internally plugged the pto brake tube from the clutch valve housing. Checking the ground drive clutch piston by applying air to the test port I can hear a small air leak in behind the the clutch piston housing. Is that normal? Or is there a small leak somewhere? Thanks

Worked on one the other day and it did the same thing, I think it's normal. Where the clutch piston slides, it leaks when piston is all the way out/extended?

Be careful some will cut oring when air check split. Needs clutch to stop piston from coming out to far
