we have an old 686 in the shed that hasn't ran in 3-5 years. It has the gas motor in it. Me and a buddy want to repower it with a dt360. Eventually down the road making it a pulling tractor. Just looking for info as to how hard it would be, what may be needed.. etc. Thanks in avance |

You will need the front and rear engine plates from a 666 or 686 that had the D312. Radiator, rework the fuel tank of you are going to run a turbo. The hardest thing to find will be the 300 series turbo manifold so you could make an adapter for the 312 manifold or a header. Some guys have used a Cummins manifold also. The gas hoods are shorter i think and all the small odds and ends like throttle linkages and stuff. You would also need the 312 flywheel and clutch but when switching over to the puller i recommend a steel flywheel and good clutch. I may have forgot a few things but I'm sure other will chime in and i bet will even have some parts you need. It's really not that bad of a swap. I did a 466 in mine. Goodluck! Edited 1 time(s). 49md is correct. We have done this a couple times also. Have many of the parts you might be looking for if you want to contact me I can give you a little more information about it |

Thanks a lot. When you put the 466 in did you have to get new frame rails? Just curios as that was an option as well due to wanting to build a 466 hot farm down the road |

I built a tube chassis but yes the frame rails would need to be longer. |

If your going to make a puller don't worry about the the front timing cover you can do some modifying And get a hold of some old 560 sheet metal and make it as long as you want or move it all forward |
