4020 R&P in a 4010

Picked up a 4010 that I am going to swap the final drives out with on my 4430 which will leave the 4010 super slow. What does it take to put a 4020 R&P in the 4010 rear end? I have heard it takes a little modification - what exactly is required? Just a little clearancing with an angle grinder or does it take some machine work?
Thanks |

If you are not using stock gears on 4020 differential shaft, it can be installed after the 4020 pinion shaft rear bearing journal is sized for the 4010 bearing, I used a 4230 shaft and did not have to alter the front of shaft other than install a spacer. |

The front bearing is a different size. You have to cut about an inch off the 4020 pinion shaft. Not sure what you want to do with it but pto gears will not work. |

So I need to shorten the pinion and turn it down to 4010 size for the bearing to fit or just find a different bearing that has the correct ID and OD? As for the PTO, this tractor actually came from the factory without PTO... |
