S200 vs 3lm466 June 07, 2018 05:27AM
Just wondering if there is a preference between the two s200 or 3lm466. Looking at the two as options

S200 is quite a bit smaller than 3lm. Basically the s300 replaced the 3lm466. Many different sizes of s300/3lm are available.

Can you give a rough horsepower range for each. Just don't want to go to big.

What is your engine setup and weight class? Open speed or speed limit? Rpms?

I sell quite a few of the little S200 SXE supercores. The larger one is just a touch smaller than a 3LM466, but is light years ahead of it in modern technology. Anyone who thinks turbo inlet size alone when selecting a turbo, is stuck in the dark ages lol! The 3LM466 measures 2.312" (2-5/16", the larger S200 measures 2.30" wheel size is 2.25") The smaller one is 2.05" wheel size, which would have about a 2.10" inlet hole diameter. Physical size is quite a bit smaller then a 3LM so it's easier to make fit in places the 3LM doesn't. The down side, is the S200's are half again more expensive.

You hit the nail on the head there! The entire S200/300 line is awesome to work with, make 3LM look like a dinosaur.......very capable and very durable. Lots of exh housing options. Not sure if the 200's have the 360 degree thrust bearing option that the 300's do?

So the s200 could be comparable to a 3lm-33? What kind of power are the 3lm-33's capable of? I think they are 2.3x2.5"

A S200 series turbo only run a 270 thrust, when working in a small area they are good turbos with a lot of options
