What is the strongest IH castings to use for a LLSS

Re: IH LLSS February 07, 2019 06:41AM
706 is definitely the strongest, but will be expensive to get light enough, next would be either the 560 or 656/666.

Re: IH LLSS February 07, 2019 07:14AM
Is there a big difference between the 560 and the 686

Re: IH LLSS February 07, 2019 07:36AM
I am running 656 rear end.

Re: IH LLSS February 07, 2019 07:40AM
560 is larger than the 656/666/686 and you can use a larger clutch with it.

656 stronger rear end 560 stronger transmission

im confused ,,, if the 656 and 460 bell housing is smaller than the 560 ,,,, so some people say to use the 560 so u can run a bigger clutch ,,,,,,,,, well my covered in red ,, I upgraded from a 10 " to a 11" 4 disc crower ……….. how much more clutch do you want ……. by the way my 10 worked perfectly fine and barley ever even adjusted ,,,,,,,, but the 11 is more standard

This has always been my question, but I always figured there are people out there that know a whole lot more about it than me. My 10 1/2" Mcleod clutch seems to hold just fine.

Re: IH LLSS February 08, 2019 02:18AM
but what im sayin is I have a 11" 4 disc in the small bellhousig

Which Mcleod Clutch are you using?

Thanks

I'm using a 3 disk pulling clutch, they quit making them a few years ago, but there are some other places making the same thing still. Trav's 4x4 performance can set you up with one.

I agree a 11 inch 4 disk clutch works fine in my tractor.
