The 180 tears are a lot lighter but cost more to build to put the 4 pinion dif in it. I changed to the 200 / 190 rear for that reason and put disc brakes on too . But remember the 180 is a lot faster in direct 22.7:1 verses the 190 at 27:1 so you have to change gears in the tranny or overdrive everything before as we did . There’s like 250-300 lbs difference between rear ends too ! I’m at 5600 lbs with steel wheels and some aluminum frame parts and could get lighter yet . We run a Cummins on alky . |

Mr. Gabel, who built those rods? Are they holding up over time? I assume that is the 5.9 block.
Is this still the same tractor, more or less, that I have photos of from back in the 70's? Probably nothing on tractor from that era that is on tractor today, other than perhaps sheetmetal. |

Yes 5.9 block , Carrillo rods , hx60 turbo . No issues engine is like 7urs old . And yes this is the same tractor from 70s that dad pulled . But like you stated many many changes 190/200 4 pinion rear with an overdrive kit in front of trans . Disc brakes etc. the Cummins actually looks legit even use the allus starter in stock position. Can pm me for more info anytime . We went the Cummins just becuase the parts are readily available. |
