I don't want alcohol opinions. Diesel only. Of you were building a LLSS diesel, would
You go 360 twin chargers. 470 1 charger. Or 410 intercooler and 1 charger. Explain why? |

Cummins 359 with twins. Can get everything for them and there a cheap engine. |

For ih tractor? I got 1 with twins and 1 with intercooler |
Re: LLSS diesel

5.9 Cummins with 6.7 crank makes it around 400 ci throw alittle boring on it to get it at 410 intercooler and single windmill. Same reason parts are cheap and everywhere |

What are the turbo limits for different variances?? That might help answer your questions.....3.4 or 3.6 for the 470 c.i. and down from there?
There are dyno classes that have a ton of info for all the combinations that you are discussing. I might add that some are highly refined and have been beat on the dyno to death!!!!! It has become another single turbo 466 class that has 100 plus dynos running every week in the pulling world... |

If i was building a diesel, it would be a 3.4 charger, the 3.6 is done.3.4 has proved it will run with the alcohol tractors, as far as going twins or 410 or 470 thats a good question, ive not seen the twins be that competitive yet, it could happen, remains to be seen, the 410 has done it, the 470 as well, just personal preference. |

For most of the country, 470 with a 3.4, 410 with a 3.0 and a intercooler, and 315 with 2, but max inlet of 3.0. |

American Beauty on the for sale page is 470 with 3.6 |
Re: LLSS diesel

I was looking at Mid-South rules for LLSS and they have 315 2turbos & intercooler, 360 2turbos, 410 1turbo intercooler, 470 1turbo 3.4X4 for the diesels. It looks like if you want to run a diesel in LLSS Mid-South gives you more options. |

A 5.9 block taken .040" over which by many is the max bore on one, with a 6.7 Crank is 379 cubes well short of 400. It would take a 6.7 block to make it past 400 cubes without a big crank. |

on a sort of different question witch is the more cost effective single turbo alcohol or singe turbo diesel witch would be relatively cheaper if there is such thing? |

Single turbo alcohol would be cheaper. Those injection pumps are expensive. |
Re: LLSS diesel

how big are they allowed on pumps? 13mm p7100? |

In my opinion we need pump limitations 14mm is plenty big enough the gate should be closed before the horse gets away let's keep this class from getting out of control |

I think that ship has already sailed. Few of are guys discussed this . And yes we should have done this along time ago. And now it's not right to make the guys go back too a 13 mm or 14mm pump |
Re: LLSS diesel
|
So a guy could run a 17mm if he wanted to? I never seen a pump size rule in all the rules I have looked at. I imagine that be way more fuel then a 410 would need with a 3 in charger. |

It's not about volume, it's about injection time. A bigger plunger allows the same amount of fuel to be injected more quickly. |

Dave the ship can be made to come back to port. we need to look at this from a long distance perspective keep this thing from getting outta hand. this is a great class for state level pullers let's not ruin it |

Outlaws have a 13mm P pump limit in LLSS. Hopefully the class can get some hooks for next year. |

This may be hard to believe and all, but with a 6.7 crank you'd have to bore it to the same size as a 6.7 to get it to 410 (6.7) displacement. That block won't like being bored .200 over. |

410 1 charger and a intercooler! I think the cooler makes your tune up easier and saves money ( less broken parts)while building torque! Just my opinion! But you will get tired of dealing with ice! |

Ohio LLSS Rules, look like 3.4x4 smooth bore 470ci no intercooler.did not see a pump restriction.look like as trail basis?2017 rule, no updates on their facebook page. |

I’m looking to build a LLSS, it appears a lot of people are using the Cummins engine. How are they getting them to bolt up? Example I’m think about building a Blue Tractor, how hard would it to be to get that 5.9 block to bolt up??
Thanks |

I have a cummins on alcohol in a ford 5000 rear end 7910 style sheet metal made a adapter plate .500 thick none of the Ford holes overlap the cummins used ford starter and ring gear. Have the flywheel and input shaft made accordingly> No big deal. |

Do you already have the 5.9 block? You could go legitimate NH and run the 6.7 Iveco... I have one in the shed for sale (stock form, not in running condition, been sitting a little while) PM me if you’re interested. |

That Iveco 6.7 is a good motor, I have had one apart an there are some areas of concern. I believe the Cummins would work the best. The only other option would be de-cubing a Genesis motor which I don’t want to do. |
