My thoughts would be a 4500 pound class based on utility model tractors 4 cyl and llss type rules.a alcohol turbo 165 MF would look sharp going down the track.any other suggestions |

We’ve talked about it before but it never goes any further I believe there would be a lot of interest if a few were built but there’s nowhere to run them I would like to see a four cylinder diesel class using a mini rod chassis with sheet metal but start out with simple rules and give everyone a chance to be able to afford it we don’t need it to be a grand national class you might be surprised maybe some kids would get involved
It would be more interesting to them than antiques |

Would a tractor at that weight need a smaller sled in order to put on a good show? If so that could be an issue for venues having to rent two sleds. I know back in the day we even had issues at times at 5200 lbs, not often but it did happen.

No but it takes some effort on the sled operators part to lighten the pan up so stuff at that weight can get it going. We pull 4300 lb two wheel drive trucks down south that do pretty good. Need a decent track but we can get 25+ mph. |

Just a thought, I know that the sleds run in the south are different now than what we pulled years ago.

Seen some

There is a 4BT powered one in Iowa.
Bad ass !!! There are some around. When Dale Quamme had NGTPA going he had a set of rules for a "Compact Diesel" class. He was building a Ford/New Holland type compact diesel. This class is a popular talking point, HOWEVER,,,,, it is JUST like the LLSS class. Everyone has their own ideas of what should be allowed. And each of them is right! You just ask!!! On the sled question,,,,,,, you do in FACT need a smaller sled to put on a show! Mini Rod sled is perfect. A big sled, with the pan tires down for 50 to 75 feet to let the sled get going is phony as heck! |

A lot of the sleds here in ky that run the BOB pulls TNT ktpa and others also hook the antique classes with 4500 pound wd45s and such so the sled shouldnt be A PROBLEM anyone interested in KY it could happen
Yes if someone is thinking a 4bt and 2500 pounds it wouldnt work im thinkig 4500 23.1 26 tires or something in that order box turbo 250 cubes alcohol or diesel utility models only Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/19/2019 02:07PM by Lewis Conner. |

Your 2300 pounds would be good for the lawn mower pulls not tractor pulls We aint talking Mid west Super Cubs hereThis class would have to be heavy enough to hook the big sleds with know special treatment a extra lawn sled wont happen through 2000 more pounds to those rules and add alcohol and it might work for a class that could pull anywere |

here are some rules that would be a fun 4 cylinder class
5000 lb 260 cubic inch max - massey , ford, ih, deere, allis, all have engines to fit this class 3500 rpm diesel open rpm gas - maybe im not sure on this 2.5 charger A-pump max intercooler allowed stock heads only home made manifolds allowed safety equipment 2 bar cage steel flywheel blanket etc. |

Couple of my thoughts: I’d drop the charger limit, A-pump, and rpm limit. Then it would really open up performance. Modern day A-pumps put out just as much fuel as p-pumps, just cost a lot more. 2.5 charger can be tough to tech, map groove width, clipped wheels, protrusion, etc. And I can’t see any Diesel at 3500rpm keeping up with an open rpm gas |

fair enough
the class weight cubic inch intercoolers and any manifolds allowed are the things i would want could make the turbo rule a smooth bore i guess .. |
