NEED input!!!!
|
Should the Ford truck engine be allowed to run in a hot farm 3lm class. Current rules are 466 with 3lm and p pump. Guys want to raise to 480cu in. I don’t think that engine was ever used in a tractor? What’s your thoughts. Thanks |

Yes let it run, those 8 cubic inches aren’t going to hurt anything and will add color to your class |

Get a better turbo. 8 cubic inch does not matter on a farm tractor. How boring must that class be? |

Why do you keep saying 8 the difference is 14, not that much but it would be nice to do the math correctly. |

The last I checked 474-466= 8
You may want to use a calculator if you are not getting the same. |

Also, just to add to what everyone else has said. The engine was not only a "truck engine" it was also used in combines, the one in my tractor is from a TR86 |

Numbers stated above said 480 - 466 = 14 |

This issue comes up every year, there is always a competitor who is just outside the established rules and wants the rules stretched to allow them to compete. SO if you let in 480, what do you when a Case guy wants to run a 504 etc? The line has to be drawn somewhere. How many more tractors will you get and how many will you lose, if you allow 480 in3?

With that turbo it will not matter at all. |

Decube the ford to 466. Same with the case. The line had already been drawn at 466. |

Re: NEED input!!!!

I disgagree

Leave your class at 466 period. If they want to run more cubes there are other classes. Don't know where you are but here they can run in the pro-farm class at 540. Same turbo rules but we only run A-pumps in both classes. How do you prove they decubed ? Short answer no one will check or know. I know a lot of Fords run Hot Farm 466 class and maybe they are all cheating with cubes. They sure are hard to beat. |

You do realize that being over cubed is possible with any color don’t you? |
Re: NEED input!!!!

Just me

Keep it 466 the Ford has a 456 and case has a 451 that would be legal. I never understood why people always want to raise the cid for a select few. |

I personally think the cubic inch limit should be 456 so you guys running red or green can't run a 466 |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
whatever
|
............get over yourself there champ.......there is a reason 466 is the popular size. deal with it. |

Whatever I think you and the simple minded people who are afraid of 8 cubic inches in a 3lm class are the ones who need to get over it. |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Is 10 less an issue then??? |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
To CB
|
8 is less than 10 and a heck of a lot cheaper option than 10 |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Agree
|
I agree with James. The red and green guys can decube to 456 then, since it’s so easy and cheap for a 3lm class. |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Color
|
If you raise it to 480 that would include a 478 Hercules as well as the ford truck engine. Running a 3lm it wouldn't matter as long as its a true 3lm. It may add some color to the show vs just the deere and ih show, its all farm stock anyway get over yourself |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Stock
|
It wouldn't be a decibel for an ih. They would either stroke or bore a 414. And a deere would do the same with a 404 and still run the same set up. |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Haha no
|
They would whine until it was changed to 466 |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Same old
|
My goodness......it's as if we are talking about the LLSS class here.......same type of whining and crying.
This class, like every other, has a rule set. Run to the damn rules and shut up!!! Geez everybody gotta whine about something......never good enough. Life is way too short for this type of bickering. |

A well prepped 436 ci binder will run with a 456 |
Re: NEED input!!!!
|
Really
|
Sounds like someone wants to or has used a 474 truck block, probably because they are cheaper to get ahold of than a genesis 456. And quite possibly been winning some hooks against the red and green ones. It's my experience that they dont like to get beat but especially by a blue one. Simple fix 470 cube with a 1% Tolerance. |

I think most places with a "466" class have the cube limit set at 470 with a 1% tolerance therefore allowing the 474 ford motor to be legal. |

Make your tractor fit the class not the whole class fit your tractor!!! |
Re: NEED input!!!!

I guess the issue is guys are saying it was never used in a tractor |

Neither was a roller block dt466 but that's never been an issue. |

That’s because all parts interchange without modification. Example, you can take a crankshaft and pistons out of a 1973 1066 and put them directly in a 1992 “roller” block. |

You guys make me laugh. We are talking about a 3lm class with what 600 hp???????? So basically it's behind on hp over lots of farm stock classes around. Under 466 should be able to alter bore and or stroke up to 466. Anything over should remain factory. |

I am always amazed with the so called "3lm" class. There are several variations of bone stock out of the box 3lms. Some perform better than others. I also know guys running so called 3lms that are as large as 3x3s who knows. Maybe some are larger? I personally don't care if someone wants to run a 474 in a 466 class. I know rules are set and should be followed. However, I do believe many classes are developed and because of all the crying and moaning that goes on, the class ends up failing. The sad part is the guys doing all the crying usually are at the bottom of the class anyway, and couldn't win if cubes, turbos and everything else was identical. So I suggest quit boo hooing around and go have fun pulling and help keep the sport alive. Yall might want to support the local pulls so that they might have your class again next year. I know of several pulls that done away with certain classes due to all the fussing and arguing that takes place. If you think for one minute that you are going to win every time you hook, you should not be pulling. Be glad you have good competition to pull against. Getting beat builds character and gives you something to shoot for at the next pull. Just my 2 pennys. |

Mike P. 1st off I am far from up tight. 2nd if you read my post you will see where I mentioned having fun and not so much crying. 3rd as 3x stated, many cannot handle the truth. All I've done was state truthful facts. |
