Camshaft Modification

Having a hard time finding a steel nose cam to grind for my BBJD Farm stock tractor. Was just curious if anyone has taken the factory cam and drilled out the center of the cam to the first cam bearing and tapped it and added a bolt? I know they have issues breaking the nose of the cam off and didn’t know if this is an option that has ever been tried with any success? Trying to find other avenues if I can’t locate a cam. Thanks for any positive response.

Buy a billet cam. The steel nose will eventually fail. |

Try Vogel manufacturing in Illinois, they grind cams and also do the work to the nose . |

Drill a 7/16" hole deep enough to install a 4 inch long 7/16" gr8 bolt and torque to 75 ft lbs. Puts the nose under compression for strength. A-C engines have this design. |

Yes that’s what a good friend of mine have talked about and the older AC engines. Not sure how it will hold up to radical pump and cam. |
