billet cranks: can a billet crank be stroked January 19, 2020 10:46AM
I have a 6 inch billet crank; looking at stroking to 6.25. Can the billets be welded and turned the same as the cast cranks? Thanks for any assistance.

I would think it should be able to be done...

If it’s a 4340 crank that’s not to hard you can anneal weld retemper and re grind to make it straight again. If it’s a crank that has been nitrided the welding will destroy the micro layer of high hardness.

Crank is a hyper max currently with Std/Std bearing.

It can be done if it is nitrided that would have to be ground out first out of all rod journals before welding. Then weld and offset the stoke then renitrided.
