Whats it take to run with the top competitors in the 15 mph class? |

Consistent torque, Driving ability, knowing your tractor, when to give the throttle, reading the track, some luck, finesse and adequate hp, and gear enough to loaf and also spin fast as the load increases, and a feel for the hooked part so you don't break out. oh, and weighting it just right. I might have missed one or two, but experience is good. The biggest set -doesn't always win, but it helps if you can control the urge to pin the throttle to quick. |

Most of them appear to have a pro farm motor. Guessing 13-1400horse. As mentioned a steady throttle hand, and turning it loose at the right time. |

Around here they are all running big cubic inch motors. 600 inches plus |

Didnt an Allis d21 win one of the nights... or at least make it to the finals? I didn´t think that you could get 600+ cubic inch out of the allis motor. Are they usings a 40 series or do they just really know their tractor and setup? |

The 210 won the first day, the D21 was 4th I think. In the finals the D21 won, and the 210 was second just behind. I was told they are running Detroit 40 series engines, but didn't hear the cubes. |

The 426 allis can get to 636 with 4.750x6” combination but there isn’t much left anywhere at that point. |

Yes u can

Yes you can, you can get over 600 out of a 426. |

Rules are 3000 RPM and no water. I kind of doubt they're making 1400 hp |

What I See
|
What weight are they pulling at? I too can't see where they would be making 1400 hp or would even need that much hp..I pull a big cube 12.5 mph tractor at 10500 and I'm very competitive at 700 horses..My tractor is capable of another 200-300 hp which should be enough in a 15 mph class depending on the weight..I would probably need a 20 mph pulling gear.. The top running 9500 Pro Field tractors in my area make 1200-1300 hp and they come down the track at 28-32 mph. |

Only rules I saw were 3,000 rpm and no water. Intercoolers and ice allowed. Ppumps, turbos as big as you want, and unlimited cubes. I'd be quite surprised if the top competitors weren't in the 12-1400 horse range. The tractor that won it the last year of Gordyville threw his torque forward when the pan dropped on a black dirt, short track. You can't do that at 12,000lbs and an 18 or 19 mph gear without serious power. |

Evidently front cuts dont make much difference. |

Not always…..depends on track. I’ve got some Firestone 151’s untouched that will beat top cut radial all trac’s on the right track. The right track is a wet red clay track. |

Tires??
|
The tire is only a small part of the equation, weight placement, driver, gear, air pressure, where on the track, when to throttle up, -how your attitude is, when in the class you pull, and more aspects matter. |

I've seen uncut tires beat full double cut tires before. |
