12500 farm class I been looking at buying a MF1105. How much work you got to do to get power out of it and not be to hot

Something to consider: a Massey 1105 has a 354ci engine vs a Massey 1155 has a 540ci engine. The 1155 is a little heavier but will get to 12500 no problem. The main difference is the 1105 is an inline 6 vs the 1155 is a V8.

Maybe you have already thought this through and if so I’d be interested in hearing your reasoning for an 1105. Good luck and keep us updated!

It probably wouldn't take too much to make a 1105 competitive at 8 or 12 mph. Its going to take a decent amount of injection pump work, injector upgrade, S300 turbo, and an air to air intercooler if not an ice box intercooler. Talk to Dennis Fry at Fair Valley Performance he will get you set up with a fuel system and turbo. It may take a few grand to get it up on its feet but once its there it shouldn't cost much to keep it going. I know people have put P pumps on 354's, might not be a bad option to look into.

I’ve heard parts availability is not good on the v8’s. Lots of parts no longer available.

Yep as much as I like my v8’s I wouldn’t start with one, parts pretty much have to be made now I would go orange or blue if starting over

That’s a good enough reason to stay away. I was talking to the owner of a local Massey dealer recently specifically about parts availability for an 1155. He acted like he was not having an issue getting parts for one he was restoring, although I didn’t specify engine parts. Guess I need to get ahold of him again.

I work on any brand farm tractor anything 80s back are starting to be obsolete just today i had to get a part for a 6600 ford from a salvage yard that was no longer offered

I pull a 12 mph class at 10500 lbs and it takes 600 horses to be competitive...At 12500 I would need 700 plus..I doubt that you can get enough out of a 354 Perkins to be competitive even at 8 mph.
