How much power can 8th gear take in a 4320, and what breaks? |

I heard of someone turning the high range into a collar shift, involves lots of grinding and welding pinions… maybe someone here knows? |

Also curious on this |

Been there

First the synchro shell breaks, once you solve that you’ll have trouble with the cast bearing retainers. And at some point the gears just won’t take it.
You can replace the high range pinion with a custom set or just put a 3 speed in and be done with it. If you have enough power to run road gear you have enough to break the gears. |

A 3 spd is out of the question for now. No need to crucify. Just simply wondering how I can prolong breaking 8th gear until I get a 3 spd to replace… I know it’s been done, and was wondering what exactly needs to be welded/keyed/strengthened for the time being |

10,000 lbs and 20.8-38 single cuts. This would be a hot farm |
