Cummins 5.9 Sleeve Repair August 15, 2022 05:54AM
We are running a 5.9 Cummins diesel in our pulling tractor and have burnt a piston. I believe the bore damage is too severe for an overbore, is a sleeve repair a good approach?

Any personal experience with a sleeve repair in a Cummins 5.9?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with it, it's been done many times. If burning a piston is a potential repeat problem you may have, you could have all 6 holes done with snug fit flanged sleeves to make future repairs quick and easy.

Thanks, after looking at the cylinder bore in the block that burnt and the rest of the cylinders, I am going to use a different block.
