Building a John Deere 404

Ok guys need an honest opinion. I got given a free funning 404 deere engine out of a combine and It has the A-pump on it. Looking to make around 900 to 1000HP as thats what most guys in the class where I am running are around so they say... Is it possible to build a 404 to that HP number or not. I got the engine for free and it runs perfect and is in great shape so I dont really wanna just throw it away. Even if i could get it to 800 I would be happy. Edited 1 time(s). Sell the running 404 and buy a core 466 or 7.6L. You'll be way better off. |

It's possible but i agree with big block Deere, it will be alot easier to make that horsepower with a 466 and in the long run if you wanted to make more, you have a much better platform and better part availability |
