$4,000 winner take all 4.1 limited pro pull 2023

I am located in east central Illinois by 74 and Indiana state line. Our local association Iliana tractor pullers does not have a 4.1 class. To help them gain traction with this I’d like to do a large cash prize winner take all mid August for $4k. How many limited pros would be interested in this. |

So if you get 20 of the the biggest & baddest 4.1s in the Midwest there, one would go home with $4k and the other 19 would go home empty handed, correct? |

Yes, we may do little more for top 3 but would be some fuel money. This is how spring car racing has seemed to work in the past. Top place pays big and #2 & #3 basically gets some fuel money. Normally 2nd place down at a none PPL pull doesn’t pay that great anyways. |

$5 Diesel

I wish you luck, but I would doubt that will draw more than a few tractors. You would probably have a better draw splitting that $4,000 three or four ways. Like say $2000, $1000, $600, $400. |

Didn't someone have a Pro Stock class like this a year or two ago that was basically the same way? Huge money for first and pennies for the rest? For those with a better memory than me how did that go? |

Puller/racer both

Most imca dirt races I have raced at payed $50 tow fee just for showing up. Also have went to several with $5,000 to $10,000 to win the A main. Just for comparison. Good luck hope you get a good turn out of 4.1s |

So much negativity, and nay sayers being so anti successful, how about putting on promoting and funding your own pulls for profit and joy, if you all know it ALL !!! Good Luck to any and all that take on the job, work and task to have a venue that invites pullers of any sort. |

Honest feedback
|
He asked for feedback, and I don't see anything hateful. People think a format like that is unlikely to draw a good class of tractors, which is definitely a possibility. |

If you are talking about sprintcar racing…that is not how it works. I don’t understand when these shows pop up and put huge money to win and is horrible money or how you were talking at first no money for anyone else. Also alot of pulls that post a big purse have huge entry fees and really makes it nothing more than a normal payout pretty much. I think all pulls for Regional and National classes should be paid back 10 spots at least. |

Pull near here had a $5,000 winner take all pro stock diesel truck class a year or so ago. Limited entries to 20 trucks. Limit wasn’t necessary- they got 5. |

Your point?
|
Just curious with your statement, was their something else they did wrong running that pull? Or do you really think people just don't like pulling for money? |

Pulling for money???
People don’t like pulling when most people go home with no money. Most people have a long drive for only 1 vehicle to go home with money…winner take all is a terrible purse/payout format. Go out and get more sponsorship money and maybe charge $1-$2 more for admission to bump up payouts throughout the field. |

Your right.
|
Yes the take all is not good. Definitely need to pay out something to everyone that shows up. But $5,000 should be the standard for a win in almost all classes. For the money and time invested i just don't understand why anybody leaves home for less. |

Tomah winner

Maybe because it's fun? Yes, winning money helps, but the experience back in the pits and on the track as most pullers know is better than the payout. |

Ok

If you have to spend 200k plus just to have fun then I feel sorry for you. |

My point is that the guys who knew the stars would all have to align perfectly for them to have any chance at winning stayed home, instead of showing up and having a shot at a check for a finish of 5th or 6th. If all pulls were winner take all the classes would ONLY have the guys with unlimited budgets pulling. Nobody pulls for the prize money, but everybody likes to take a check home. |

If you are talking about the Oquawka FFA pull, I know for a fact that the winner of the $5K paid out some of his winnings to the other 4 trucks that hooked that evening. |

Yes, that is the pull I was referring to. I did not know he did that. Good that he did, but unless they worked that out in advance there was no expectation that more than one puller was going to get a check. |

Since your local association does not have that class who is going to insure that class? Just asking. |
